The Canadian Pacific Railway built several grand hotels across Canada in varying chateau styles, including the Château Frontenac in Quebec City. Designed by American architect Bruce Price and opened in 1893, the Château Frontenac sits high above the city on a hill along the St. Lawrence River and was named after Louis de Buade, Count of Frontenac, a former governor of New France. It was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1980 as this beautiful structure is widely recognized as the heart of Quebec City.
