The first point: Qinghai-Tibet train is high; Sichuan- Tibet

If you want to drive in to Tibet by yourself, there are three lines
conclude: Qinghai-Tibet train, Sichuan-Tibet highway, and
Xinjiang-Tibet line. Set out to start Tibet travel from Xining of
Qinghai, and pass through Golmud and Nachu, then finally arrive in
Lhasa. Whole journey is about two thousand kilometers. It is named
the highest road in the world. The average elevation of it is more
than four thousand kilometers. Although average elevation is high,

2. road situation is well. Compare to Qinghai-Tibet train, if you are
will to have Tibet travel from Chengdu, maybe it is more difficult to
drive. However you will meet the most charming view among the
three lines; Snow Mountain, natural forest, ancient tea route, all of
the unique sight will make you ignore hardships with you. Well, if
you want to begin from Kashgar to Lhasa, you will pass a lot of
depopulated zones. There is no guarantee about that, so I do not
suggest you choose Xinjiang-Tibet line.

calm.
Elevation reaction is main formidable enemy undoubtedly for
driving car. You also pay more attention to road and environment, so,
it will take you more energy and physical strength. Especially, you
would never know how your body is like before you are in plateau.
It is not only different from plain, but also it will do some reaction to
your body. You will experience some reaction just like headache,
breath with difficult, fever and vomiting. What is worse, continuous
and tired driving will make you feel terrible. And sometimes, you
will meet traffic jam.
Facing elevation reaction, people’s feeling is that keeping
calm is the most important. If you lost your heart’s balance,

Moreover, you should take more water, fruits, and some another VC
food. And have good rest before your journey, also remember keep
warm all the time.

Before you setting out, you should check weather of place
where you will go. Almost, it will be about zero degree along the
way. Maybe you have taken a lot of thick clothes in your bag;
however, I should tell you that it will make a little function. In most
of your travel, it will be sunny, and climate is well. Most of your
clothes are put in the bottom of a chest; if it is really rain and wind,
they will also make no use; because it is not enough to keep out cold.

are on the way. Ice water is so terrible that difficult to drink. Also,
you would better drink hot water. You can ask some shop host for
hot water, they will be very kind. Besides, you can take some fruits,
cookies and chocolate properly; these foods will help you replenish
vitamin and energy.
Finally, taking some oxygen bag is necessary at your side.
Although in plateau, you will not leave oxygen bottle when you
accept oxygen uptake; it is the fastest and most effective treat way if
there is any serious elevation reaction.
The forth point: which car should you choose? How should
you drive in plateau?
As far as we are concerned, if we want to drive to Tibet, car is
important. And most of us maybe focus more attention on
cross-country performance. Wow, however, it is fault. Highlander is
enough to deal with the situations which are properly happened. It is
safe and comfortable when you are on the journey. Also you can put
down the third seat, and make the volume bigger. Also, you will feel
what practical applicability is. It will make you feel easy on your
whole travel, combine with some other situation, you can think
about the car like this. Well, you will witness a few SUV in there,

5. but there are a lot of saloon cars and domestic Minivans that you can
easily watch in Qinghai-Tibet line. So why? Although its elevation
is high, and there is a lot of fluctuating roads; it always asphalt road.
It is not sand-gravel surface and slippery road. And there are few gas
stations; most of them are for number 93 of gasoline and diesel.
There is almost no one for number 97 of gasoline. So it is convenient
for adding gasoline to choose highlander.
Compared with plain area, it is particular about driving in
plateau. Qinghai-Tibet line is bidirectional and single lane; there are
a lot of sky way and not few freight cars. And air is thin in plateau,
car’s motive power will be influenced some how, it is danger to
overtake but not leave enough lead. Some experienced drivers also
suggest that you should keep your foot on braking in most of time
when you drive in plateau. But not to step on the gas always so that
keep the car smooth and steady. In addition, some yaks, antelopes
and some other animals will flee on the road at any time, you should
brake in time.
