The Scope Of Contribution
In every work, every role, there is a possibility of
contributing at multiple levels – contributing to self,
contributing to organization, and contributing to
society. Explore how you can contribute at multiple
levels in your career.
Exploring the scope of contribution
Further, explore the difference between
“acquisition for self” and “contribution to self” –
the former being material acquisition and the latter
being conscious development of oneself through the
medium of one’s career.
Workspace Applications
The Non-contributor Auto-rickshaw Driver whose
contribution in work is limited .
Workspace applications
This Non-contributor auto rickshaw driver treats this
passenger as just another “bhaada or business fare” like so
many others whom he takes day in and day out. Result – he
is not interested in his passengers or their needs and his
work is nothing more than a way to earn his living.
Victims V/S Contributors
Victims Contributors
Believe circumstances are more
powerful than they are
Believe that they as human
beings, can shape the
circumstances they are in
Live in the comfort of the
known
Willing to fail and grow beyond
the known
Constantly blame others for
their Circumstances or problems
Take responsibility for their own
problems and solves
Depend upon others to find
answers for them
Rely on themselves and their
own solutions(instead of waiting
for others to find answers)
From “Victim” to “Creator of my own
Destiny” one should come out form his
“comfort zone”.
 VICTIM :-
 Do not try new things.
 live in the comfort of the known.
 CONTRIBUTOR :-
 try the new things.
 Willing to fail and grow beyond the known.
Step for Embarking on the Journey
to the Contributor ship
Contributors face challenges
(instead of ignoring them or
running away from them)
 So we’re trying to say you all is that
All the major contributors in present or past have gone
through many obstacles but and every time they had to
chose between two roads and they chose “Not To Give
UP”
 And this is what makes them special.
SO here we can SAY that these people to gain the title of
“Contributor “ had to go off books or syllabus
Where does the power to contribute come from?
It comes from within ourselves — from our
commitment to be a contributor, practice contribution
and to experience its fruits in our own lives. This
commitment manifests itself as a gigantic will to
contribute.
WANNA BE A Contributor ?
 One who makes a difference in the lives of people
around him
 One who thinks of giving something

 Promotes win - win situation
 Believes in man-making rather than polishing only the
outside (when there is nothing inside)
 Thinks of “we” and not “I”
Do Not Keep Rigid Mind-set
Rigidity exists in society in form of
 People – Henry Ford on Model T.
 “Available in any colour as long as it is black”
 System – Bureaucracy at work place
 BSNL : Bhai Saheb Nahi Lagega
 Ideas (very critical !)
 “Nobody can pass the sound barrier”
 “Everything that can be invented has been invented”
 “Our culture is doomed.”
Think Of Alternate Solutions/Ideas
Generating new possibilities is the first step in
creating innovations.
 Start with yourself
You probably have millions of good ideas located right there in your
head, already. You just have to get hold of them and pull them out.
 Learn about community
You need to gather enough information to form an overall picture of
people's interests, struggles, similarities, values, and differences
 Think about the future
we can make some educated guesses. And those guesses may
help us figure out next steps that work for our communities.
 Get beyond hopelessness
difficult time being creative and thinking about new
possibilities
 Be courageous
In order to be creative you may have to be courageous. You
may have to dare to think in ways that are different from
others
We Need Not Look Very Far…
 We have recently witnessed some brave, brilliant Indians
who displayed the essential qualities of a contributor.
 They crossed disciplinary boundaries and gave up
comfortable positions in their lives to contribute to their
nation’s well-being.
ARVIND KEJRIWAL
 Joined Tata Steel right after his graduation from IIT Kharagpur.
 Voluntarily resigned from the IRS (Indian Revenue Service) as Joint
Commissioner in IT Dept.
 Founded Parivartan, a Delhi based citizens’ movement.
 Started Public Cause Research Foundation.
 Spearheaded an awareness campaign for RTI across India.
 An active participant in the movement for the enactment of Jan Lokpal
Bill.
KIRAN BEDI
 The first woman officer in the IPS.
 Voluntarily retired from the post of Director General.
 Host and judge of the popular TV series "Aap Ki Kachehri“.
 Set up Navjyoti India Foundation and India Vision
Foundation.
 One of the prominent members of the India Against
Corruption (IAC).
What is Focus on Value?
 In the term of contributor we define focus on
value as below:
 One of the aspect of a Contributor’s Mindset is
his/her goal of creating value for self, for family,
for the team, for the organization, for customers
and for society.
 In short, the Contributor aims to create value for
all stakeholders in his/her life.
What Does Creating Value Mean?
 Creating value means making a positive
difference, a tangible impact, a specific
contribution to any situation.
 This positive difference or impact can be in the
form of achieving a specific goal, creating a
product, creating ‘human touch’ in a particular
interaction or enhancing one’s own capacity or
the capacity of one’s colleagues and team- mates.
 Contributors are therefore extremely result-
focused, but the result is measured in terms of
value created.
Explorations
Examples Of Contributor
• His contribution towards
society:
• Identity and unity
• Universe allegation
• Hinduism’s rise to eminence
• Preservation of Hinduism's rich
diversity
Bill GATES
• Don't compare yourself with
anyone in this world...if you do
so, you are insulting yourself.”
• “If you can't make it good, at
least make it look good.”
• failed in some subjects in exam,
but my friend passed in all. Now
he is an engineer in Microsoft and
I am the owner of Microsoft.”
 I choose a lazy person to do a
hard job. Because a lazy
person will find an easy way
to do it.”
 Freedom is not worth having
if it does not include the
freedom to make mistakes.
 When you find your path, you
must not be afraid. You need
to have sufficient courage to
make mistakes.
Disappointment, defeat, and
despair are the tools God
uses to show us the way.”
Conclusion
 Contributing persons are extremely on result-
oriented.
 Swami Vivekananda expected that individuals do
not merely “work”, but work in order to achieve
results and create value for themselves and
society.
 Growth has no limit for us. We keep revising our
visions. Only when our dream it we can do it.
 We have to believed on our dreams and we lived
our dreams.
