The document outlines a plan for a fashion film that will tell the story of a woman who goes to a hotel to get ready for a date while being unfaithful to her spouse. The film will use conventional romance genre conventions. It will feature a female protagonist and male date character, with anonymous male characters representing past relations. Styling will include nightwear, a red dress to signify danger and love, and gold eye makeup with red lipstick. Scenes will be set in a luxurious hotel. Flashbacks will be created through fading edits. Communication between characters will be shown through mobile phone props. Music from The Weeknd's "The Hills" was chosen to convey a forbidden relationship through its lyrics and edit points.
2. What approach am I
taking?
• The approach I am taking to fashion film is a
conventional fashion film.
• The genre will be romance.
• The plot to my fashion film will be a female
who has gone to a hotel to get ready for a
date in which she is being unfaithful to her
spouse, however she will feel guilty and not
meet the person she is supposed to after
having a flashback of her decipt and lies.
3. Main characters
• The main characters of my fashion film will be a
male and female.
• The female will fill most of the visuals as the
narrative is about her romantic life and her lies.
• The male character will be the person she is
supposed to meet at the hotel.
• The other characters included will be a range of
anonymous male characters who have had
relations with the female character.
4. What will the styling be
like?
• The styling in terms of the clothing will be
night wear and a dress. The dress will be red as
this will represent danger and love. The male
characters will be in smart dress also, in the
form of suits.
• In terms of the makeup the starting shots will
be natural makeup and then a gold eye with
red lipstick, again to portray danger and love.
6. The Location.
• The location for my fashion film will be in a
hotel. I aim to find a hotel that is quite
luxurious, however this depends if I am able to
find one.
7. Editing the film
• The main editing techniques I will use will be to
create the impression of a flashback. This I
think will be done by fading the visuals to
white or black and then going back to the
previous frame before the flashback to give
the impression that time has stopped and the
female character is thinking.
8. Props
• The main props for the film will be mobile
phones, this will be the method of
communication between the female and male
character and the female and her spouse.
• Other props that will be included will be hair
and makeup styling tools, clothing and mirrors
that the characters will look into.
9. Music.
• The music for my fashion film will be the song
‘The hills’ by The Weeknd. I have chosen this
song because I feel that this conveys a
forbidden relationship with the lyrics. I also
feel that this song will have a lot of points
where I can edit to time and make the visuals
cut where the different parts of the song are.
