This ppt was displayed as final Oral Presentation for the subject LANGUAGE III in IFDC SAN LUIS. The general proposal was: Big Changes and Challenges. Therefore this ppt presents how somebody like Ms. Laura Von Rosk had to cope with such changes as moving to Antarctica. The ppt tries to show pictures and other visual aids, and the speaker should be able to talk with only these visual aids, and not so much text on the board.
4. “The diet provided at each station is very similar
to the kinds of food eaten at home in the UK. “
“The main difference is that fresh fruit and
vegetables are limited in their availability. “
“Vegetables, fruit and meat come tinned, dried or
frozen but foods such as bread are freshly baked”
(Natural Environment Research Council- British
Antarctic Survey, 2012).

5. CLOTHING.
The CLIMATE of
Antarctica is the
coldest on the
whole of Earth.
Antarctica has
the lowest
temperature
ever recorded on
the ground on
Earth: −89.2 °C
(−128.6 °F) at
Vostok Station.
On most parts of
the continent the
snow rarely
melts
6. POLAR CLOTHING: to work effectively
it must: allow perspiration to disperse
allow free movement
be comfortable whatever the weather
keep the body warm, especially fingers and toes
THE LAYER METHOD: the best way of achieving
these needs.
Several layers of lightweight clothes are better than
one or two layers of thick, heavy clothes.
The layers allow good ventilation, and the trapped air
acts as good insulation against the cold.

HEALTH:
It is vital that every
person living in A. is
fit and healthy.
In case of crisis,
there is the
possibility of surgery
in the largest
stations (E.g.
Rothera).
