Adaptant is a German SME focused on empowering users over their own data while enabling new uses of data. They are interested in providing privacy-enabling technologies and expertise for sensitive data in smart cities and other cross-sector applications. Their core competencies include policy and market analysis, privacy and data ethics by design, and open source integration. They propose developing internationally relevant and interoperable privacy platforms for protecting sensitive IoT data exchanged between cities. The outcomes would be strong research and innovation ties with Japan's privacy industry and interoperability between European and Japanese privacy landscapes. Challenge
As Europe finds itself at the forefront of privacy reform (through the GDPR), new privacy-
preserving technologies, methodologies, and lessons learned can begin to be applied in
other emerging markets to kick-start their own emerging ecosystems, while facilitating
interoperability in the global data economy.
Our Contribution
 Leverage our experience in privacy-enabling technologies, standardization and policy
for markets outside of Europe.
 Perspectives of market-entry barriers in Europe for the Digital Single Market.
 Familiarity with the Japanese IT industry and corporate culture.
 IoT privacy platform.
Pitch
Develop internationally relevant and interoperable privacy platforms for the protection of
sensitive data (personal or commercial) exchange between IoT devices in the context of
