Great talk with the @SuperFounders group about startups, hypotheses, problem interviews, leanstartup, and if customer interviews should be structured or unstructured:)

what’s cool? NOT spending 6
months and 50 grand building a
product that no one wants solving a
problem that no one has and
fighting with cofounders & blaming
lack of activation or retention on
biased press, stupid VCs with no
guts or vision, and being too early.”

crash test them.
They run them

IF you can still accomplish the
BECAUSE based on what you learned.
It is that simple. If you still think you
can, create a solution MVP. If you think
you cannot, change something. If you
are not sure - talk to 10 more people.

This is how it is going to be all weekend. We are not going to tell you we have no spoon or that your idea sucks or is great. We are going to ask you vague questions and lead you to the answer. It may be uncomfortable. It hurts us more than it hurts you. Your instructors have been trained to not break character, do not take it out on them. We are not doing this to be annoying, we are doing it because we have seen it work. Refunds are on the table if you want to leave:) they will be here until after you run your first experiment.
27 seconds in- trying to trim... chances are, as an entrepreneur about to deliver a new product or service.. "you are going the wrong way" IGNORE FOR NOW
It is SO important to understand the customer and the TRUE need / everything else is based on this knowledge
If it is not true now, when will it be true. What has to change. What are you betting on? Why are you building something now if

only experiments that lead to truth and predictive reliability can help you eliminate waste
what is your goal - how will you know you have accomplished it - how do you avoid retrospective coherence…
no, test first - experiment first, optimize for learning
Because build it and they will come is a FLAWED strategy. CAN REPLACE WITH CRANES OVERBUILDING IN A CITY ESP IN EUROPE MOVIE REFERENCE DOESNT ALWAYS TRANSLATE
If you have a 3 part plan, if part 1 falls apart part's 2 + 3 are irrelevant.
you have to do your homework
Do the least that gets you to the next step not the most that gets you to the first step
Instead… eliminate waste by running experiments
by running experiments - GO
Used this image instead of cooler ones of tunnels-- since you can actually see something at the other end... maybe it's the wrong thing.
Avoid missing the bigger opportunity-- opportunity cost is HUGE
Get out of your comfort zone -not just the how... get out of your comfort zone for its own sake... coders love to code, designers like to design their way out - sales people like to sell their way out... start with a problem and a customer and you are in good shape.
where to go to
pull dont push- tug of war slide (no selling allowed slide too maybe- or can be it's own)
humans are terrible at predicting the future or saying what they WOULD DO... focus on the past... HAVE YOU, TELL ME ABOUT THE TIME...
pull dont push- tug of war slide (no selling allowed slide too maybe- or can be it's own)

Designing the RIGHT thing is equal parts learning, vision, experiment, skill and MILKSHAKES
Designing the RIGHT thing is equal parts learning, vision, experiment, skill and MILKSHAKES
only when you get people thorugh your funnel ıs ıt tıme to try and scale
When DESIGNING / running a perfect experiment - think of it this way. How can you prove THE SAME THING with LESS RESOURCES, FASTER. After talking about methods, remember… perfection is X - here is how people actually applied it...
pull dont push- tug of war slide (no selling allowed slide too maybe- or can be it's own) MOVE TO THEORY DEC 101
Do the least that gets you to the next step not the most that gets you to the first step
force yourself to focus on one variable, one use case, one customer
