It was announced at the Sept. 26 CAC meeting that on Oct. 1, the ACWA program would be realigned from having been a separate reporting activity of Army Materiel Command to that of a Program Executive Office (PEO) attached to the U.S. Army Acquisition Support Center, increasing its visibility and obtaining greater support. The ACWA website address has changed to: www.peoacwa.army.mil
ACWA will continue to report directly to the Office of the Secretary of Defense as required by law.

In addition to the above, presentations were given to the Colorado Forum, Pueblo 2020 Commission, Pueblo Optimist Club, among others. We have been present at the monthly CAC and Permitting Working Group meetings. Information booths were set up that the Senior Life Festival, Los Pobres Center, McHarg Park Anniversary Celebrations; Boone Migrant Head Start Family Night; and at PCD’s 70th Anniversary Celebration; Networking events include United Way, Colorado State University – Pueblo Alumni Association; Southern Colorado Press Club; Latino Chamber of Commerce of Pueblo, among others. Public meetings included permit modification, environmental assessment, Restoration Advisory Board and Pueblo Depot Activity Development Authority. Tours were held for Rep. Tipton, members of the CAC, Pachyderm Club, Federal Emergency Management Agency Region VIII, among others. Information packets and an outreach overview is provided weekly during new employee orientation sessions.
The bar chart shows the number of outreach events the Pueblo Chemical Stockpile Office attended each month from April through September of FY 2012, broken down by event type. Each bar shows the total number of events for a month, and the colors for each of the bars represent a type of event. For example, new hire orientations are the dark blue parts at the bottom of each bar. As you can see, the Pueblo ORO regularly conducts new hire orientation events, and held five orientations in each of April and May, and three in June. Each of the other colors for the bars represents events such as briefings (in light blue), CAC meetings (in orange), information booths (in aqua), networking events (in purple), public meetings (in green) and tours (in red), as shown in the key at the bottom.
The chart above shows the number of information distributions and recipients for each of those distributions in April through September of FY 2012. As shown on the bottom of the chart, we had 225 posts on Facebook, 702 tweets and 95 email distributions. The green bars show how many people we were able to reach using each of those distributions. We reached 292,839 people through 702 tweets, 89,545 people through 225 Facebook posts and 17,264 people through 95 email distributions.
The above pie chart shows the Pueblo Chemical Stockpile Outreach Office’s outreach events and information distributions by percentage during April through September of FY 2012. As you can see, emails make up over 8% of our activities and education outreach events make up almost 4% of our activities. Upon first glance, it would appear that more of our effort is going to social media avenues than any other outreach vehicle. However, while we have been posting more frequently on Facebook and sending emails, we are still holding as many in-person activities (like public meetings and information booths) as we have in past years.
Facebook and Twitter posts include re-posts and re-tweets. Although the email distribution, and other activities, look much smaller in comparison, our numbers have remained consistent over the past several years. That is the advantage of social media as an outreach tool – our contacts pass on our information to additional contacts, allowing for us to inform more people about the project.
