SEBI made amendments to regulations regarding foreign portfolio investors to expand the definition of securitized debt instruments and allow FPI investments in unlisted corporate debt securities and securitized debt instruments up to INR 35,000 crore. SEBI also amended mutual fund regulations regarding investments in hybrid securities like REITs/InvITs to provide a 15 day exit option for unitholders of existing schemes investing in such instruments. Additionally, the CBDT provided clarifications for determining the place of effective management for tax purposes of companies other than Indian companies, which will come into effect from assessment year 2017-18.
