3. • Step two: Install water and ice membrane.
This material is a rubber membrane that
has adhesive on one side that sticks the
roof. This is usually added in areas where
you might get a lot of water running and
ice build up.

5. • Step Three: Lay the felt paper (tar paper).
This is usually laid over entire roof (it
doesn’t have to be but building code is
starting to lean that way)
6. • Step Four: Placing roof vents. There are
several types. The number of vents
depends on the amount attic space that
needs to be vented. There is 1 vent
required for every 150 square feet of attic
space. This also depends on the type of
attic vents you used.
