Causes for deficiency of Vitamin B-12
 Water treated by reverse osmosis (RO) filters out
minerals that help to assimilate vital nutrients and
produce vitamin B-12.
 Vitamin B-12 deficiency can cause various health
problems like constant back pain, knee pain, fatigue,
lack of concentration, loss of appetite, shortness of
breath, bleeding gums and even nerve damage
 The second reason could be that B-12 isn’t easily
absorbed by the stomach.
Importance of Vitamin B-12
 Vitamin B-12 is helpful to the body to keep its nerves
and blood cells healthy.
 It is also helpful in formation of healthy DNA.
 It is water soluble mineral and is main source of mineral
Cobalt.
Special Thanks to…
 Dr Bharat Dave, honorary spine surgeon at VS Hospital
and NHL Medical College, helped us significantly to
conduct our research.
 Not only he provided us with his precious time, but also
guided us in forming and designing our questionnaire.
Research Design
 The main objective of conducting this research was to
find relativity between Depletion of Vitamin B-12 and
Consumption of RO Water.
 A Questionnaire containing 19 questions was
prepared and data was collected from 100 individuals.
 Qualitative Approach
Cont…
Hypothesis:
Null hypothesis (Ho) - There is association of deficiency
of vitamin B-12 with regular consumption of RO treated
water.
Alternate hypothesis (Ha) - There is no association of
deficiency of vitamin B-12 with regular consumption of
RO treated water.

Phases of Research: Research was divided into 3 phases
Phase 1 : Questionnaire were distributed among all 4
members to collect data. The team was
guided to keep patience throughout the data
collection by making them realize the degree of
stress involved in it.
Phase 2 : Data collected was transferred into Excel to get
necessary interpretations.
Phase 3 : Bar charts were developed to know the impact of
different problems included in research.
Yes

No
50%
Interpretation: The prolonged deficiency of vitamin B-12
causes loose memory and lack of concentration.
Half of the sample population had complaint
regarding this issue.
Poor-Concentration / Memory
Yes
60%
No
40%
Interpretation: Deficiency of Vitamin B-12 leads to megaloblastic anemia
due to which the patient/person feels exhaustion and weakness
throughout the day. Sometimes exhaustion is also
accompanied with body ache. Majority of population
complained regarding exhaustion and weakness.
Fatigue / Weakness
Low Mood / Depression
Yes
60%
No
40%
Interpretation: Vitamin B-12 and other B vitamins play a role in producing
brain chemicals that affect mood and other brain functions. Low
levels of B-12 and other B vitamins such as vitamin B-6 may be
linked to depression.
Dizziness / Lightheadness
yes
62%
No
38%
Interpretation: Dizziness is the feeling of being lightheaded, woozy, or
unbalanced. It affects the sensory organs, specifically eyes and ears.
It can cause fainting. Dizziness is not a disease but a symptom of
other disorders. Pernicious anemia caused by vitamin b-12 depletion
can be the major disorder.
Daily / Frequent Headache
Yes
55%
NO
45%
Interpretation: Frequent headaches are mostly common among the
patients of Vitamin B12 deficiency. Majority of sample population
had this complain. Reasons behind headache are mainly
gas, bloating, hyperacidity , non-restorative sleep all
of which have only one root and i.e. deficiency of vitamin B12.
Thank You
