4. Summary of CCC/CCP Certification Process
Candidates for the CCC/CCP designation must meet these minimum
requirements:
1. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
At least 8 full years of professional experience, of which up to 4 years may be
substituted by a college/university degree. Related degrees include:
engineering, building construction, construction technology, business,
economics, accounting, construction management, architecture, computer
science, mathematics, etc.
2. SUBMIT APPLICATION AND FEES
Submit the application, work/education verification and fees, at least 40 days
before the next exam date to be scheduled at an exam site.
3. SUBMIT PROFESSIONAL PAPER
You must submit an electronic copy of a professional paper of a minimum 2,500
words on a cost engineering-related subject on or before the time of the
examination. You must also provide the exam proctor a CD with your
professional paper at the time of your exam. Candidates failing to submit their
professional paper on CD at the time of their exam will not be permitted to sit
for the exam. Papers previously authored within the prior three years may be
used if they meet the specific technical and length requirements. Papers are
graded on a pass/fail basis.
4. PASS THE EXAMINATION
To become a CCC/CCP, a 70% passing grade must be achieved on the 7-hour
exam as determined by the Certification Board.
CCC/CCP Exam Structure
The CCC/CCP examination consists of four parts (1 hour 45 minutes each).
 Part I is 50 multiple-choice questions on Supporting Skills & Knowledge
(open book)
• Part II is on Cost Estimating and Control
• Part III is on Project Management
• Part IV is on Economic Analysis (open book)
Parts II, III and IV consist of two sections each. The first section has 5 compound
questions which contain 7 multiple-choice questions each. You will choose to
answer only TWO of these compound questions, resulting in answering only 14
multiple-choice questions for the first section of each part. The second section
of each part consists of 20 multiple-choice questions.

5. Recertification:
RECERTIFICATION HELPS CCC/CCPS STAY CURRENT: The CCC/CCP designation is versatile. It is a mark of distinction. Recertification is an important indicator to
professionals and employers that you have kept up with current trends in planning & scheduling. That is why CCC/CCPs must recertify every 3 years by either
professional credit plan or re-testing. Recertification ensures continued expertise through work experience, continuing education, professional development, and
