Tundra is one of the five biomes on
Earth. The word tundra comes from the
Finnish and means treeless land. The
temperature is normally very cold and
averages -12°c to 6°c.
The North Pole is called the Artic Region
and the South Pole is called the Antarctic
Region.

3. ANIMALS IN THE TUNDRA
Here is a list of animals that live in the tundra:

Squirrel, Lemming, Seal, Beluga Whale,

4. ARCTIC FOX
The Arctic Fox has a white winter coat. The
summer coat is grey to brown on the back,
with lighter fur underneath it. The pads on
the soles of the feet are covered with fur for
insulation. Arctic foxes like to eat small
mammals like birds, bird eggs, lemmings,
squirrels and berries.

Did you know?
The polar bear is the only bear that is considered a
marine mammal because it depends upon the
marine environment for survival.
Male polar bears grow up to 10 feet tall and weigh
something like 1400 pounds.
Females reach seven feet and weigh 650 ponds

6. TWO TUNDRAS
Tundra has two variations, Arctic Tundra,
found near or north of the Arctic Circle and
Alpine Tundra found at various places.

8. PLANTS
The tundra has a lot of plants. Some of the plants
include bearberry and arctic moss, some interesting
ones might include Diamond leaf willow and
