Introductory Note
2015 has marked the birth of the Ekurhuleni Fashion Festival with the first instalment
of the show taking place during the Spring/Summer season.
Like all new born babies they require the attention of both parents or otherwise all the
efforts of one parent will need to double. A team consisting of; Yamkela Matomane,
Rita Kantu, Tshepo Motsumi, Joshua Maluleke and Twilight Mabunda.
The festival marks the birth of platform for designers within the region of Ekurhuleni
and beyond the borders to showcase their talents to the audience, the media and the
social personalities.
Our partnership with Azzura and Hunnar Management Agency of Zimbabwe has been
established to create an idea and talent exchange between the two countries. This
partnership has seen three designers and models from both Zimbabwe and Botswana
joining us.
The Heralds by Ara Kani, Tapfumanei Munenge by Coco and Thembabi Mubochua all
three designers from Zimbabwe. Models were Fisher and Shadel from Zimbabwe
along with Kgosi from Botswana.
The show included exhibition pop up shops at the venue that ran three hours before
the main show and continued concurrently with the show. This is to increase the
interaction and on the spot purchases.
With great honour and humility to announce a long term partnership with MoFaya
Beverage Company as our main partner and beverage sponsor which will see DJ Sbu
making quest appearance to the show going forward as we saw on the show.
The assistance from the Ekurhuleni Creatives Council which saw Reason coming to
the show. As well as Lexi as a presenter from GauTV covered the show which will be
broadcast later on DSTV channel 265.
Ekurhuleni Fashion Festival is going to be the exclusive premium fashion event in the
region and one of the must attend showcases in the country in the next three years.
