2. A resident of Long Island, New York, Wilma
Klass enjoys traveling the world, and she has
visited more than 90 countries. For a period,
Klass lived in Alaska, volunteered at the
Anchorage Visitors Center, and informed
individuals about the wonders of the city.
3. Located in Southcentral Alaska, Anchorage
provides people with a myriad of
opportunities to explore the splendors of the
state. People can arrive through Ted Stevens
Anchorage International Airport or via cruise
lines. Additionally, during the summer a ferry
travels from Bellingham, Washington, to
Whittier, Alaska, which is nearly 60 miles
from Anchorage, and offers cruise transfers
to the city.
4. Comprised of nearly 2,000 square miles,
Anchorage contains the Chugach Mountains
and the Cook Inlet, which enables visitors as
well as residents to go rock climbing or walk
along the coast. Many enjoy its 135 miles of
paved trails, pedestrian-friendly and easily
navigable downtown area, and national
parks. Its remarkable natural features allow
for bear watching, fishing, dog mushing, and
snowmobiling. Moreover, Anchorage contains
pleasant temperatures ranging from the mid-
60s in the summers to the low 20s in the
winters.
