1. Relaxing the body
- Have the children get comfortable by sitting with their backs straight and feet flat on the floor
- Instruct them to take a few deep breaths and feel their muscles relax as they breathe out
2. Deep breathing
- Guide the children through 3 rounds of deep breathing:
- Inhale through the nose for a count of 3, hold the breath, exhale through the mouth for a count of 3
- Encourage them to imagine breathing in positive feelings and breathing out any negative feelings
3. Focusing the mind
- Suggest focusing on a specific point, such as their upper lip, and drawing their attention and

THE FIRST NOVICE IN BUDDHISM
Rahula -— The Son of the Enlightened

Just before Prince Siddhartha re-
nounced the world, his wife Yasodhara
gave birth to a son. According to legend,
