The Association was registered in November, 2002
under the Societies Act (CAP 108), Laws of Kenya as an
association of Water Services Providers (WSP's) in the
country. Among key mandates of the Association is to
convene for sharing experiences with institutions and
actors of like mind to enable improve on service
delivery to the public.

2. Background:
WASPA
Started with only 3 member utilities has presently
grown to 61 active members out of a possible 104
representing the main water utilities country wide.
Under their Strategic Plan 2013-2017, the association
is working towards fulfilling its mandate, grow the
association and improve and support its members with
performance improvements in the delivery of water
and sewerage services.
Besides organizing quarterly benchmarking and
collective learning among utilities, WASPA also
promotes the broader engagement of government and
non-state actors to realize best practices, enhanced
coordination of actors and knowledge management.
Bi annual conferences continue to be one such critical
activity that promotes networking, lobbying &
advocacy and knowledge transfer.
So far WASPA has successfully held its first
international conference in 2011 followed with hosting
of the 3rd International Water Association Deve-
lopment Congress in Nairobi in 2013.
