Manager Seminar - Session 2: Me and my net
remuneration

"On February 21st Vlerick MBA Alumni organised the second session of a series of three
seminars on 'Management contracting: everything you always wanted to know about the
remuneration and employment contract of the manager'. For the second time around 70
participants were welcomed in the exquisite setting of the Deloitte headquarters in Diegem
for the session about 'Me and my net remuneration'.
Renaat Van den Eeckhaut (Partner Deloitte Tax) started with explaining what a classic
middle-management package looks like and which alternative remuneration techniques are
available. He further took a closer look at representation allowances and deduction of
business expenses and introduced us in bonus payments and equity instruments. Interesting
and actual topic was the impact of changed legislation on company cars, pensions and
personal property income. Finally also more complex compensation and bonus packages
were discussed for top management remuneration.
Each topic of the presentation set the stage for short but lively debates with key
representatives from BNP Paribas Fortis (Regine Callebaut), Belgacom (Mark Lindemans),
Johnson Controls (Henk Debrock) and Euroclear (Bart Smets). Testimonials from HR business
professionals out of the daily practise. The topics discussed were ground for interesting and
challenging questions by the audience which continued during the excellent reception
offered by Deloitte.
