  7. Video Conferencing Forecast by Region of the World The video conferencing forecast by region of the world is summarized in the table for total group units shipped (in thousands), and the resultant market size (in millions of US dollars). The column in the table labeled G6 shows the compound annual growth rate for the six-year period ending in 2012. So what does this mean? High-definition video conferencing has begun to capture the imagination of the videoconferencing masses. The improved audio and video quality of these new systems is exciting many new users while also prompting the experienced users to replace their old systems. The effect here is two-fold: an increase in unit volumes being shipped, and improvements in the average selling price (ASP). As the videoconferencing endpoint market continues to evolve in meeting business demand, Enterprise group products represent ~75% of the total enterprise product market, a market that is over $1.25B in annual revenues. In turn this creates a unique opportunity to take additional market share!
  8. Today, three contributing factors promise to invigorate the market: · Distributed workforces are the norm. Today, 20% of the US workforce is comprised of fulltime teleworkers. Miscommunication can be common: Academic research shows that in a face-to-face work environment at least 60% of communication is nonverbal. Watching an interviewee lower his eyes when answering the question “Why did you leave your last job?” speaks volumes. Videoconferencing allows for increased face-to-face communication to mitigate miscommunication and build closer teams. · Firms now show real ROI for videoconferencing. In the past, the ROI for videoconferencing was not well understood. Today, however, many companies can show tangible ROIs based on travel expense reduction. One international manufacturer estimated that the price of quarterly team meetings dropped from $35,000 to approximately $1,000 with the substitution of videoconferencing for travel; and, the quality of the meetings and the relationship between team members did not deteriorate. · Technology advances fix reliability and user interface issues. Technology advances like high definition (HD) displays and standard Ethernet/IP networks provide quality, reliability, and ease of use. One global pharmaceutical company saw the use of its videoconferencing rooms increase nearly threefold when HD displays, collaboration tools, an IP network connection, and an intuitive user interface were integrated into existing videoconferencing gear.
