Having a courageous conversation
takes preparation, strategy and skill
– but it also takes confidence and

people’s ability to have effective and straightforward
conversations. By effective, we mean the ability to
identify the real issues, mobilise attention on the real
issue, create agreement and generate appropriate

conversations and interactions as effective as they
would like them to be
•	 Armed with a set of tools and approaches to help
them overcome these limitations
•	 Prepared, having worked on their own case, to go
back to the workplace immediately have a more
successful conversation.
Creating a conversation culture
One conversation can’t change a culture –
but a whole workplace filled with courageous
conversations can.
Like all behaviour change, sustained improvement
will take extended practice and commitment, but
delegates will be equipped with the knowledge to
allow them to practice a new way of approaching
conversations.
With practice and on a large enough scale across the
organisation this will result in more effective decision
making, less re-work, more focused performance
discussions, as well as greater confidence and
resilience.
We ask delegates to prepare for the masterclass with
a series of pre-event activities, to help embed the
learning as part of their work.

On the day
The one day Courageous Conversations Masterclass
will introduce delegates to a series of tools,
techniques and strategies which will enable more
effective straight talking conversations. Delegates will
use innovative techniques to identify the traps and de-
railers to effective conversations and they will have an
opportunity to put those skills into action, within a safe
environment, but using ‘real world’ examples.
