The 2010 Sloan Survey of Online Learning [1] revealed that enrollment rose by almost one million students from a year earlier, and that nearly 30 percent of all college and university students now take at least one course online.
Online majors made up 30.2% of UIS headcount enrollment.
At 1,527, the number of online majors increased by 102 from Fall 2011.
38.0% of credits were generated in online courses.
61.0% of UIS students took at least one course online.
36.4% were registered only in online courses.
43.0% of online majors have mailing addresses outside Illinois.
85.7% of the Illinois students have mailing addresses outside Sangamon county.
The online majors are older than their on campus counterparts, by nine years on average at the undergraduate level
The average age for online graduate and undergraduate majors is 34.8. 34.0 UG, 35.6 GR.
Online majors in: 48 states (not ND, VT), the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico; 3 Canadian provinces; 75 counties in Illinois; 9 foreign countries.
