1. Region 2 is composed of five
provinces, namely: Batanes,
Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva
Vizcaya, and Quirino.Its
regional center is
Tuguegarao City. Cagayan
is composed of 4 cities, 90
municipalities, 5 provinces,
and 2,311 barangays. With
a Total population 3,229,163
as of 2010. It’s total land
area is 31,159 km2 (12,031
sq mi).
2. Cagayan occupies the northeastern tip of
the Philippines, bounded by the Batanes
Islands on the north, the Philippine Sea
(Pacific Ocean) on the east, Isabela
Province on the south, and the Cordillera
mountain ranges on the west, Cagayan has
a total land area of 9,002.70 sq. km. It is
just about 480 kilometers north of Manila.
It is strategically located near the growing
tigers of South East Asia like Singapore,
Thailand, Vietnam, South Korea and even
Hong Kong and Japan. It is about 2,730
kilometers south west of Tokyo, Japan or
only 570 kilometers south of Kaoshiung,
Taiwan
3. Language:
English and Filipino are widely used and spoken in
Cagayan. Predominant local languages are Ilocano,
Ybanag, Ytawes and Malaueg. Pangasinense, Maranao
and other dialects are also used in some areas where
migrants abound.Majority of the Cagayanos can speak at
least two of the local languages and have good command,
or at least a working knowledge, of the English language.

northern part of the province.
9. The province could have gotten its
name from the Ilocano word carayan
or "big river," referring to the Rio
Grande De Cagayan, the longest
river in the country,

19. Isabela is the second largest
province of the Philippines next
to Palawan.
23. Aguinaldo Shrine (Palanan) –
This is a historic place
wherein the First Philippine
president, Emilio Aguinaldo,
surrendered to the American
Forces; thus marked the end
of the Philippine Revolution
in March 1901.
24. The Magat Dam is a multi-purpose dam
which serves as a source of hydroelectric
power and as a source of irrigation water for
about 85,000 hectares (210,000 acres) of
agricultural lands
25. Northern Sierra Madre Natural Park
(NSMNP) – This is the largest
protected area in the country. The
NSMNP is a low altitude rainforest
at 800 feet asl. It has a land area of
about 359, 477 hectares. NSMNP
was also rated no.1 in the world’s
biodiversity.
26. Fuyot Spring National Park / Ilagan
Santuary – This tourist spot features
naturally formed lattices and rock
formations. It is 15 kilometers away
from the Ilagan town proper. Within
the area is the Pinzal Falls, which is
conducive for excursions and
swimming.
