Institutional libraries, organized to facilitate access by a
specific clientele, are staffed by librarians and other personnel
trained to provide services to meet user needs

• ಗ್ರ ಂಥಾಲಯದ ಪುಷತ ಕಗ್ಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ರೀತಿಯ ಗುರುತುಗ್ಳನ್ನಾ ಗ್ಲಿ, ಇನಿಾ ತರ ಯಾವುದೇ
ಹಾನಿಯನ್ನಾ ಮಾಡುವಂತಿಲಲ . ಯಾವುದೇ ಹಾನಿ ಮಾಡಿರುವುದು ಕಂಡುಬಂದಲಿಲ ಸೂಕತ ಕರ ಮ

ವಿಧಿಷಲಾಗುವುದು.

also some of the movies of national and international acclaimed.

• The circulation desk in the college library performs

30. Library Service: Reference Service
• We are providing reference service for both faculty and students
• Whenever there is a information need for students and faculty we are
helping them to find and use it
• We have a good collections of reference materials such as Encyclopedias,
Dictionaries, Thesaurus, Yearbooks, General Studies Manuals, Atlases
and Government documents etc.
• The library has all the 36 volumes of Britannica Encyclopedia
• Everyday an on average 120 students visits library reference and reading
newspapers
31. Library Service: Book Bank Facilities
• Book bank facility is one of the important facilities for
students coming from underprivileged sections of the society
• GFGC-Periyapatna library provides book bank facilities for
SC/ST students
• Books will be issued at the beginning of the each semester and
collects back after their completion of examinations.
• Students who have come from underprivileged sections of the
society have taken this benefit and excelled in their academics.
32. Library Services-Question Banks
(Old Question Papers for Reference)
• Library has also made provisions for students to refer old question
papers for preparing their examinations
• Students are allowed to use old question papers from Monday to
Friday between 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm.
• The library preserves previous four years question papers.
• Students are allowed to take the photocopy the question papers
using their mobile phones
• In certain occasions photocopy facility is provided for students
• Planned to provide e-versions of the question papers in the coming
days
33. Library Service: Over Night Borrowing Facilities for Faculty
and Students
• Library is extending over night borrowing facility for teaching and
students community
• This service is provided when the borrowing limits of the faculty
and students exceeds.
• The borrower has to return the books immediately after a day or
two.
• This facility helped many students and teachers when there is an
urgent need of library materials.

Internet connection through College LAN
• The computer system is used to access N-LIST and other
electronic resources
• The library staff is assisting students and faculty in
identifying information on the web and also filling online
applications for scholarships and jobs.

35. Library Service: Career Guidance and Counselling for Students
• The library is offering career guidance and counselling for
students in its own way.
• College library is subscribing Udyoga Varthe, Sparda Spurthi
and Sparda Chaithra magazines which contains information on
various job openings in government and other sectors.
It is the pride of the library to document here that two of our
students who had seek the career guidance in the year 2012
and 2014 have successfully excelled in their field.

( Library Automation or Computerization)
Library automation is the use of data processing machines (computer) to
carry out traditional library activities such as acquisitions, cataloguing,
circulation, serial control and other library related activities.
• The Library automation work is under process (Data entry is going on)
• The Library is using E-Granthalaya 4.0 ILMS which is hosted on the
cloud
• The library software is developed by National Informatics Centre (NIC),
New Delhi
• At present the library OPAC of GFGC Periyapatna is searchable with
limited number of documents
• In the due course of time complete searchable Web OPAC will be made
available.

• This is another unique practice that is being implemented in the library
• Pictures or paintings can ignite new ideas or imagination
• In order to create or encourage our students to develop the aesthetics
of images the college library posts/displays images (photos/paintings)
