2. Why is it relevant/worth exploring?
▶ Affecting education system
▶ Compares students to each other
▶ Part of the application for most colleges and universities
3. Potential Questions
▶ Are these test reasonable?
▶ Does standardized tests cause stress to students?
▶ Should colleges require standardized test scores?
▶ Are standardized tests in elementary and middle school necessary?
▶ Are they too long?
4. Research Available
▶ Educational Administration Abstracts by EBSCOhost Research Database (on
lib.rowan.edu under Databases)
▶ The Washington Post reports articles about the topic
▶ National Education Association gathers information of the study
▶ American Federation of Teachers reports the effects of the tests on the
school system

6. Potential Challenges
▶ All schools have adapted standardized tests and if students are planning on
applying to college they are going to have to take a standardized test
▶ Standardized testing has become part of the country's education system
using it to compare students strengths and weaknesses
7. What is the issue?
The issue is that not all students are good at taking tests and using a long
rigorous test to compare students to each other is wrong. All of these tests
depend on how much the students were prepared for it and that could vary
for different places.
