2. ABOUT ITC
It is a multinational private company which was established in the year 1910 as “Imperial Tobacco Company of
India Limited” , the company was renamed as the “India Tobacco Company Limited” in 1970 and later to ITC
Limited in 1974.
Initially the company started with manufacturing cigarettes , later the business diversified to foods, dairy
products, stationary, hotels, packaging and printing, information technology etc. It has 15 businesses in 5
segments namely paper boards and manufacturing, FMCG, hotels, information and technology, Agri Business.
It is a wholly-owned subsidiary which has established a product portfolio of 25 Indian brands including –
Aashirwad, Sunfeast, Yippee!, Bingo!, B Natural, ITC Master Chef, Fabelle, Sunbean, Fiama, Engage, Vivel,
Savlon, Classmate, Paperkraft, Mangaldeep etc.
3. CSR OF ITC
The CSR activities of ITC are focused on two stakeholder communities: rural communities with
whom ITC’s agri-businesses have forged enduring partnerships, and with communities residing in
close proximity to our production units.
Company expenditure on CSR for 2018-2019 was RS. 307 Cr.
To implement the Company's CSR Programmes through Company personnel or through external
implementing agencies or through ITC Education Trust, ITC Rural Development Trust, ITC
Sangeet Research Academy, ITC Bhadrachalam Education Trust, Tribeni Tissues Education
Society (and other Trusts, Foundations and Section 8 companies that may be established by the
Company from time to time).
5. Solid Waste Management (WOW Programme)
ITC's Well-being Out of Waste (WOW) initiative promotes awareness about the importance of
source segregation and recycling, and establishes systems to ensure effective practice.
It collaborates with local municipalities to train waste workers and rag-pickers in these concepts
and to provide an efficient collection system that covers virtually all segments: households,
offices, schools, hospitals, commercial establishments, etc.
In addition to WOW, ITC has a separate programme on solid waste management under Mission
Sunehra Kal which deals with both wet and dry waste.
ITC is running a circular economy based, a first-ofits-kind Multi-Layer Plastic (MLP) collection
and recycling programme in Pune.
ThE 360 model for valorization of MLP packaging waste has sustainably managed around 500
MT of MLP/ Low Value Plastic (LVP) waste since its launch in June 2019.
ITC worked with the local recycling partner by extending technical support and sharing best
practices for better value realization from recycling MLP.

7. Baareh Mahine Hariyali
ITC’s Baareh Mahine Hariyali has added new dimensions to the complex task of
multiplying farmer’s income.
It is being progressively rolled out to 1 million farmers.
Its aim to multiply rural incomes through a wide spectrum of interventions in
climate-smart and sustainable agriculture.
These include productivity enhancement, seed selection and other good agricultural
practices (GAP), introduction of climate-tolerant crop varieties, cropping intensity
and diversification, shared mechanized farming equipment as well as enabling
market linkages.
The pilot programme covered over 2,00,000 farmers, of which 34,000 have
already doubled their incomes while others are also making encouraging progress
8. NITI Aayog & ITC Partnership
ITC entered into a partnership with NITI Aayog in 2018 for improvement of agriculture.
Also it has allied sectors in 27 Aspirational Districts of 8 states under ‘Mission Sunehra
Kal’.
The project design entails building capacities of government extension staff to create a
cohort of Master Trainers for disseminating sustainable agricultural practices amongst
farmers.
It also creating templates for seasonal planning at the Gram Panchayat level.
ITC also trained farmers directly by establishing Farmer Field Schools to provide field
demonstrations in 1,350 villages to complement the cascade training programme.

10. Impact of e - Choupal
Enhance the ability of farmers to take informed decisions.
Helps the farmers to align their farm output with the market demand.
Helps to ensure higher quality & productivity.
Benefitted more than 4 million farmers in over 35,000 villages through 6,100 kiosks
across 12 states.
1,254 CPK complement the e- Choupals to render agri practices to around 65,000
farmers covering 1.48 lakh acres.
11. Covid 19 Initiatives
A COVID Contingency Fund of Rs. 215 crore was set up to address the needs of the
distressed.
Food and hygiene
Financial support to supply chain partners.
ITC along with its NGO partners mobilised farmers and wage earners in the catchment
areas of its operations to enable them access work opportunities under MGNREGA.
