Welcome to a Virtual Tour of
Udgam School For Children
Our School- Vision and
Tradition
The name ‘Udgam’ means ‘origin’. The school is
managed with the aim to fulfill the need to provide top
notch education in the city. Over the years, we have
maintained the legacy and have left no stone
unturned in maintaining the academic excellence of
our institute.
Also, at the same time, we have evolved as a school
and kept pace with the changing trends in the world
of education, without however, deviating from our
motto-‘Quality Education First’.

Our school is holistically
conducive to the
standards as per CBSE
regulations.
Udgam – The
Neighbourhood School
• Both the premises of Udgam
School (Thaltej and Jodhpur) are
very suitably located within the
city limits and midst of densely
populated areas.
• This prevents unnecessary
wastage of time for our
students in commuting to and
for school.
• More than 90% of our students
stay within the 7 Kms. radius.
This Google map
shows that most
of our students
live in the vicinity
Safety and Security
Dedicated security staff monitors the premises, keep a
record of visitors and manages the traffic.
They also guide the parents in parking their vehicles
properly
Security Guards on Duty
CCTV Surveillance in
classrooms and corridors
• To keep a constant check on our students
and teachers.
• To prevent untoward behaviour within
the school building
• We give CCTV viewing privileges and
TVs to Vice Principals and Principal for
their respective section.
Fire Safety
• To prevent any fire disaster within the school
building, we have installed government
approved standardised fire extinguishers as
per CBSE norms.
• All our fire equipment are strategically
placed and are well-maintained
• We train our staff to operate these facilities in
times of necessity
Neat, Clean and Hygienic School Compound
• Comfortable, engaging environment for
students
• Separate housekeeping staff to keep the
building neat and tidy
• All our staff are trained, very polite and
eager to execute their duties.
• Both our campuses are dust free campus.
• We do not have bare ground in the
premises.
• Thaltej Campus has lush green lawns.
It was indeed a moment of great prestige for
the entire Udgam school, when Ahmedabad
Mirror featured our school as the cleanest one
in the city.

new Jodhpur Building
AC Classrooms: Luxury or Necessity?
• We decided to install AC in our classrooms for two reasons
• The high temperature during the summer months makes the
students and teachers very uncomfortable, affecting the
teaching and learning process.
• Sound proof classrooms making the environment free of
background noise.
• The temperature is adjusted according to climatic conditions
to ensure comfort
• According to industry source, we have one of the least
electricity consumption per child amongst various AC schools
in India.
Smart Classes for Smart Learners
• To Enhance the teaching -learning experience in
the classroom
• The visual elements projected through the
smartboards, help the students to retain their
lessons better.
• Each class has speakers to give the students a
good audio experience.
• To complement the excellent hardware, we have
bought the software to show on the Smartboards
from ‘Extramarks’ which is a 11-year-old company
providing software to 8000 schools across the
country
Here’s how our Classrooms Look
Windows in the building are made of German UPVC frames with
Double Glass Unit with toughened and tinted glass
Ceilings :
• All our classrooms have special German standard false ceiling, which helps in:
• Absorbing Echoes to @ 34 dB sound level and reducing reverberation.
• Ensuring complete absence of noise in class rooms & there by ensuring more concentration
of children in sessions
• Insulation to heat and there by increase the AC effectiveness
Lighting :
• We have replaced traditional tube lights with power saving LED lights fitting.
• They minimise the power usage and allows the classrooms to be sufficiently lit.
Well-Stocked Library
• Equitable access to our library resources
• Eliminates the need for any other library
membership
• New books are added at regular intervals
• There is a seating space of 100 students at a
time in Thaltej.
• Total, we have over 40,000 books across two
libraries.
Our School Labs
To develop scientific interests among our students, school has the following labs:
• Math lab
• Physics lab
• Bio lab
• Chemistry lab
• Computer lab from Junior KG onwards

Lifts inside the School
Premises
• Lifts are very advantageous for sick or injured
students and staff
• We employ disabled people as lift attendants
Our School
Toilets
• Waterless, odourless, water saving urinals for boys
• Girls’ toilets are neat and tidy, eliminating any chance of
infection. Also, they are equipped with sanitary pad dispensing
and disposing units - Sanipod, which help our girl students to
stay comfortable and maintain hygiene. We have tied up with a
professional agency to hygienically dispose the used Sanitary
Napkins.
• We also have hand wash soap dispensers installed in all wash
basins.
• One of the most overlooked concepts in schools is about hand
drying. Dry hands are 1000 times safer than damp hands.
https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20090914005155
/en/Dry-Hands-1000-Times-Safer-Damp-Hands At Udgam
School Thaltej branch, we have cutting edge HEPA compliant
Dyson Hand dryers which dry hands in 10-12 seconds.
We have renovated about 90% of our toilets in both the schools and have made them according to modern toilet
requirements and standards. The flooring and walls are done with glossy vitrified tiles, which are very hygienic and
easy to clean. The lavatories are environment friendly, which low water consumption per flush. We have auto shut
off flush with ½ flush facility. Auto shutoff taps are also installed in toilets, to save water.
Udgam School App- Connect
• Our Connect app has been very popular
ever since its launch in June 2016.
• There are about 5500 parents using the
App regularly.
• The total screen views are a staggering
13 million.
• Almost 100% parents have successfully
downloaded the app.
• The graph shows the yearly increase of
usage of the mobile App
Connect App
Features:
The app is fully functional and has all the essential features
which help the parents to:
• Keep a tab on the daily work done in school
• Check the calendar and timetable
• Apply for leaves
• Read the circular
• Check the result
• Access the various practice sheets
• Contact the teachers and VPs.
School Portal
Apart from the most useful features available on the App, we have a few more essential
features on the portal , which is accessible only from the computer.
Portal has updates like:
• Detailed information about the Activities (how many activity done in the class)
• Whether that student has participated or not, if yes then details about the award, if
applicable.
• Log in to the portal using the student ID and explore the various features.
Teachers’ App
– Mentor
• It is User-friendly
• Allows the teachers to minimize
their paper work.
• It also helps the teachers to plan
ahead and stay organized.
• They can easily respond to parent
queries, upload worksheets and
quick notes to parents.
Our Channels of
Communication
• Parent- School communication
• Every teacher and administrative staff of the school has
individual email address.
• We send emails to parents with important news, updates and
articles.
• We have subscribed to mass emailing software to send emails
to all parents quickly and in such a manner that it doesn’t end
up in the spam box.
• We regularly send weekly attendance record of each student to
the parents through which they can track the attendance record
of the student and compare it against the respective class and
section.
• It has helped to improve attendance ratio for the entire school.
This has substantially increased the attendance ratio among our
students.
• Our Vice Principals regularly follow up with the parents of the
students who don’t attend school regularly.
Surveys and Opinions
The school management involves all stakeholders in the decision-making
process. Before taking an important decision like eliminating the school
diary and introducing the App, we did an extensive survey of the parent's
choice.
• In the surveys , our parents are very satisfied with the features and
standards of the school.
• After analysing survey results, we make necessary modifications in our
modus operandi.
• We give a platform to the parents to voice their opinion.
• Like the last 4 years, this year too, we conducted a parent feedback
survey.
• We base our decision for improvement of our services based on the
findings of such surveys.
Opinion on
Fees
Regulation
Ever since the fees regulation legislation had come into force we
were wondering how we can reduce our costs. In a school with
5,000 students there are bound to be groups of people who
would dissent to any decision. For a democratic approach
towards cost optimisation, we undertook extensive value
engineering survey a few months back.
In none of the 38 options given, there is a consensus towards
reduction in costs. Close to 1900 parents responded, still we are
unable to undertake any decisive action to curtail our services
and hence there is no scope of reduction of related expenditure.
Most of the responses showed more than 60% of parents would
want to continue the services, facilities and amenities – which
means that without dissatisfying a vast majority of parents, we
are unable to make a drastic reduction in costs.
Social Media Channels:
We have active social media channels on:
• Facebook
• Instagram
• Flickr
• YouTube
• Twitter
Where we showcase:
• Student achievements
• Post regular updates about the school
events
• Over and above the normal posts and events
updates – at times we do Facebook live. This
helps parents to view their child’s performance
sitting in the comfort of their home or from their
busy schedule at work.
• We also put many parenting articles on social
media and blogs to spread awareness in the
parent community at large whether or not
studying in our school. Several schools across
the state are following our Facebook page and
emulating our activities. This brings up the
overall education level of the state.
Our Facebook page is one of
the most active school pages
ever!
School Magazine
• Monthly newsletter containing creative work of
students, teachers and parents
• The school magazine is a valid book that informs
the parents / students and teachers more about
the tradition, culture and activities of the school
and also records the development of the school.
• It’s indeed a great platform for the students to
showcase their drawings and other talents.
School magazines are for keeps and are a great
treasure for the students.
Newspaper in
Education:
Every student of our school , from primary to
secondary, is given a free copy of Times of India
NIE daily.
It contains important news and lessons for the
students and helps in developing the precious
habit of newspaper reading, which, of course
further enhances their English skills.
Students get to know about current affairs,
general knowledge and happenings at various
schools.
Passport to Excellence:
• Every Udgamite from Jr. Kg to Grade 5, gets a small passport booklet that
records their progress and good deeds throughout the entire academic year
• There are stickers for various categories or classroom achievements like
reading independently, finishing lunch in time, improving in maths and
several more
• The stickers encompass all categories of a child’s progress in school
• Parents too can give stickers to their children in the same passport booklet in
the parents’ section.
Passport to Excellence is our endeavour towards rewarding the ‘behaviour’ of
our students which indeed goes a long way in shaping their future. So far, we
have received very positive feedback from parents and teachers about this
project. Students have taken it in a very positive spirit.
Homeopathy Clinic:
We believe a medical resource in unavoidable in school
and our clinic is open for all our students and teachers.
• To give the child immediate relief in school and to
provide emergency care, we have a running
homeopathic clinic in the both the campuses of our
school.
• We believe that unless a child attends the school
regularly, we will not be able to help him or her to the
maximum.
• It is the fundamental requirement for every child to
attend school regularly to reap the benefits of quality
education.
• The doctor is well qualified and experienced to ensure
that students are appropriately monitored and
administered.
Environmental
Initiatives:
Education goes hand in hand by setting the right example and creating the necessary
awareness. Environment threats like water scarcity, plastic usage are on the rise and, as
a school, it’s our duty to contribute towards our planet, in whatever way we can. We
believe in “teach by example” where we set an example in the child’s mind that how
we can be environmentally friendly.
• Rain Water Filtration System and Reverse Borewell:
With the underground water level depleting day-by-day, we have constructed a
borewell and installed a filtration system in such a way that 70 per cent of the
rainwater will be used to charge the aquifers. This prevents water logging inside and
outside both of our campuses.
• Going Paperless:
We use state-of art-technologies to implement some innovative ideas to protect the
environment. The parents are notified by using the mobile app and other modes of
electronic communications. Even the leave note is sent on mobile and read by the
teacher on the mobile. All the urgent internal communication takes place using
WhatsApp.
• “No” to Plastic:
We are taking the necessary steps to minimise plastic usage in the school and
encouraging our students and parents to do the same. Recently, we introduced
biodegradable nashta bowls for our pre-primary students.
Academics:
Our priority has been and will always continue to offer holistic education and ensuring well-
being of our students. Ever since the school started in 1965, we have successfully
maintained a track record of 100% pass rate. We hire the best teachers in town and
continually conduct training sessions and workshops to keep them updated with the
evolving trends in the field of education. We believe in blending fun with academics to
reduce down the pressure on our students. That is why, our educators and supervisors plan
a host of activities to help our children retain their knowledge and instill the right values.
• Free Worksheets:
Each of our students get multiple worksheets from school.
Worksheets enable the students to clear concepts in a short time and is useful for the
parents to revise too.
We also upload extra practice sheets on our portal regularly which the students can practice
at home. All our worksheets are very meticulously planned, which minimises the need to
buy extra worksheets or workbooks, helping the parents to save costs.
Detailed Assessment:
Teachers work hard in designing the lessons and articulating them. How a child
interprets and understands the same is, however, unpredictable. We respect the
fact that all children are not the same and some may not grasp whatever is taught
to them.
So, what could we do to ensure that each child of our school benefits from our way
of teaching?
The obvious answer is ‘assessment’.
Last year, we have introduced DA ( Direct Assessment) for our students from
grade 3 onwards.
• DA is a set of assessment that goes hand in hand with the school curriculum
and syllabus.
• We have tied up with Educational Initiatives for the same. Educational Initiatives
is associated with over 3000 school and more than 3.5 lacs students take their
benchmark tests.
• With the help of DA, the teachers and even the students are able to gauge their
level of conceptual understanding.
The ultimate aim of DA are :
• Individual Analysis
• Instant feedback – The students understand where they have gone wrong and
how can they do it in a better way.
• Remedial measures ( Special classes are arranged where the students can
revise their concept and get a better clarity)
• Better scope for improvement
• With DA in place, our teachers and parents can now stay closely involved in the
child’s learning process.
Our Teachers-
Shaping the future
of our Students
A highly competent teacher workforce is imperative for
improving the students’ educational outcomes, especially for
those who rely solely on schools for their successes. Due to the
high demand for quality teachers, alongside a diminishing supply
and a steady rate of teachers leaving the profession for various
reasons students’ academic and economic welfare is considerably
threatened.
• At, Udgam, we, in no way, compromise on the quality of
teachers.
• Retaining excellent educators is one of the most important
agendas of our institution.
• We hire teacher with the appropriate qualifications and
experience.
• This is to ensure that we have adequate number of qualified
teachers for each class and subject.
• The high number of teachers is directly proportional to our
salary expense, but we believe in providing nothing short of
the very best in educating our students.
• Also, to ensure that none of our students are overlooked, we
have VPs for each section, along with separate supervisors.
Special Educators and
Counsellors:
We respect the fact not all children are equal.
There are students with special needs, learning
difficulties and behavioural issues. Our
commitment is to educate in an unbiased manner.
• We have special educators and counsellors who
are able to Identify the underlying problems and
suggest ways to make education an easy
process for such students
• About 220 students regularly visiting the
counsellors
• This multi-tier system helps in smooth teaching-
learning experience for our students and
teachers
School Bus / Transportation:
No Compulsory Transportation
• Both the locations of Udgam (Jodhpur and
Thaltej) are so advantageous for the parents
that we don’t find it necessary to keep school
transportation compulsory.
• We have the option of school transport but
that’s totally optional and left to the discretion
of the parents.
• Many parents have been successfully dropping
and picking their wards for years and a lot of
them car pool too.
• Also, we give reference of van vendors to the
interested parents, if they would like to opt for
van service for their children.
• However, those who choose to opt for the
school transportation system, we offer them AC
buses and wingers with trained drivers,
integrated GPS tracker in the vehicle, and
dedicated attendants.
• These features ensure students’ safety and
comfort while commuting in school transport.
• The school suffers a huge loss in transportation.
Books,
Stationeries
and Uniform:
• Parents are free to buy books, stationeries and uniform from
wherever they want to, as long as they adhere to our list of books
given and the uniform.
• After class 6, we use only NCERT books which are not very
expensive.
• At school, we discourage using fancy stationeries.
• Using simple pencils, pens, erasers in modest pencil
boxes/pouches is encouraged.
• This helps in maintaining uniformity among our students and
eradicates redundant complications.
• Simple uniform rules, having no separate house uniforms or
sports uniform.
• A simple checked shirt, full length jeans, blue socks and belt.
• Parents don’t have to invest in multiple uniforms.
• We give all the parents a list of shops that sell Udgam uniform
which are available in maximum outlets as compared to any
other school.
• School is in no way involved in the purchase of books,
stationeries and uniforms of our students.
Activities:
The range of co-curricular activities include:
• Dance
• Music
• Art
• Craft
• Needle work
• Chess
• Carrom
• Yoga
• Karate/self-defence
• Before school and After school activities:
• We collaborate with the best trainers of the city and offer an interesting range of activities at a subsidized rate.
• Activities are optional for the students.
It’s an endeavor to bring forth the best faculties under one roof and help the parents and students to pursue any activity of their
choice, without having to commute to different corners of the city.
A Glimpse of Some Activities
conducted during School
Hours
Sports & Games Following Sports & Games are offered at our school:
• Skating
• Badminton
• Tennis
• Football
• Cricket
• There’s no related party transaction in our school operation
• All educational and sports activities are outsourced to renowned organisations
who have tie-ups with various other schools, in different parts of India.
• Our eminent sports partners are Edusports and Shaishya academy, who have
hundreds of thousands of students under them.
• All the sports equipment such as racquets, balls, bats, skates etc. are provided by
the school and students don’t need to bring anything from their home for sports.

  • 14. Check out the latest technology used in our new Jodhpur Building
  • 15. AC Classrooms: Luxury or Necessity? • We decided to install AC in our classrooms for two reasons • The high temperature during the summer months makes the students and teachers very uncomfortable, affecting the teaching and learning process. • Sound proof classrooms making the environment free of background noise. • The temperature is adjusted according to climatic conditions to ensure comfort • According to industry source, we have one of the least electricity consumption per child amongst various AC schools in India.
  • 16. Smart Classes for Smart Learners • To Enhance the teaching -learning experience in the classroom • The visual elements projected through the smartboards, help the students to retain their lessons better. • Each class has speakers to give the students a good audio experience. • To complement the excellent hardware, we have bought the software to show on the Smartboards from ‘Extramarks’ which is a 11-year-old company providing software to 8000 schools across the country
  • 17. Here’s how our Classrooms Look
  • 18. Windows in the building are made of German UPVC frames with Double Glass Unit with toughened and tinted glass
  • 19. Ceilings : • All our classrooms have special German standard false ceiling, which helps in: • Absorbing Echoes to @ 34 dB sound level and reducing reverberation. • Ensuring complete absence of noise in class rooms & there by ensuring more concentration of children in sessions • Insulation to heat and there by increase the AC effectiveness Lighting : • We have replaced traditional tube lights with power saving LED lights fitting. • They minimise the power usage and allows the classrooms to be sufficiently lit.

  • 23. Multipurpose School Auditorium • Multi-purpose hall with 400 people seating capacity • Used for: • Formal assembly • Lectures • Award ceremonies • Dramatic plays • Musical theatre • Performances • Orientation programs for parents and so on • The hall is acoustically designed giving every one present a great experience
  • 24. Lifts inside the School Premises • Lifts are very advantageous for sick or injured students and staff • We employ disabled people as lift attendants
  • 25. Our School Toilets • Waterless, odourless, water saving urinals for boys • Girls’ toilets are neat and tidy, eliminating any chance of infection. Also, they are equipped with sanitary pad dispensing and disposing units - Sanipod, which help our girl students to stay comfortable and maintain hygiene. We have tied up with a professional agency to hygienically dispose the used Sanitary Napkins. • We also have hand wash soap dispensers installed in all wash basins. • One of the most overlooked concepts in schools is about hand drying. Dry hands are 1000 times safer than damp hands. https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20090914005155 /en/Dry-Hands-1000-Times-Safer-Damp-Hands At Udgam School Thaltej branch, we have cutting edge HEPA compliant Dyson Hand dryers which dry hands in 10-12 seconds.
  • 26. We have renovated about 90% of our toilets in both the schools and have made them according to modern toilet requirements and standards. The flooring and walls are done with glossy vitrified tiles, which are very hygienic and easy to clean. The lavatories are environment friendly, which low water consumption per flush. We have auto shut off flush with ½ flush facility. Auto shutoff taps are also installed in toilets, to save water.
  • 27. Udgam School App- Connect • Our Connect app has been very popular ever since its launch in June 2016. • There are about 5500 parents using the App regularly. • The total screen views are a staggering 13 million. • Almost 100% parents have successfully downloaded the app. • The graph shows the yearly increase of usage of the mobile App
  • 28. Connect App Features: The app is fully functional and has all the essential features which help the parents to: • Keep a tab on the daily work done in school • Check the calendar and timetable • Apply for leaves • Read the circular • Check the result • Access the various practice sheets • Contact the teachers and VPs.
  • 29. School Portal Apart from the most useful features available on the App, we have a few more essential features on the portal , which is accessible only from the computer. Portal has updates like: • Detailed information about the Activities (how many activity done in the class) • Whether that student has participated or not, if yes then details about the award, if applicable. • Log in to the portal using the student ID and explore the various features.
  • 30. Teachers’ App – Mentor • It is User-friendly • Allows the teachers to minimize their paper work. • It also helps the teachers to plan ahead and stay organized. • They can easily respond to parent queries, upload worksheets and quick notes to parents.
  • 31. Our Channels of Communication • Parent- School communication • Every teacher and administrative staff of the school has individual email address. • We send emails to parents with important news, updates and articles. • We have subscribed to mass emailing software to send emails to all parents quickly and in such a manner that it doesn’t end up in the spam box. • We regularly send weekly attendance record of each student to the parents through which they can track the attendance record of the student and compare it against the respective class and section. • It has helped to improve attendance ratio for the entire school. This has substantially increased the attendance ratio among our students. • Our Vice Principals regularly follow up with the parents of the students who don’t attend school regularly.
  • 32. Surveys and Opinions The school management involves all stakeholders in the decision-making process. Before taking an important decision like eliminating the school diary and introducing the App, we did an extensive survey of the parent's choice. • In the surveys , our parents are very satisfied with the features and standards of the school. • After analysing survey results, we make necessary modifications in our modus operandi. • We give a platform to the parents to voice their opinion. • Like the last 4 years, this year too, we conducted a parent feedback survey. • We base our decision for improvement of our services based on the findings of such surveys.
  • 33. Opinion on Fees Regulation Ever since the fees regulation legislation had come into force we were wondering how we can reduce our costs. In a school with 5,000 students there are bound to be groups of people who would dissent to any decision. For a democratic approach towards cost optimisation, we undertook extensive value engineering survey a few months back. In none of the 38 options given, there is a consensus towards reduction in costs. Close to 1900 parents responded, still we are unable to undertake any decisive action to curtail our services and hence there is no scope of reduction of related expenditure. Most of the responses showed more than 60% of parents would want to continue the services, facilities and amenities – which means that without dissatisfying a vast majority of parents, we are unable to make a drastic reduction in costs.
  • 34. Social Media Channels: We have active social media channels on: • Facebook • Instagram • Flickr • YouTube • Twitter Where we showcase: • Student achievements • Post regular updates about the school events • Over and above the normal posts and events updates – at times we do Facebook live. This helps parents to view their child’s performance sitting in the comfort of their home or from their busy schedule at work. • We also put many parenting articles on social media and blogs to spread awareness in the parent community at large whether or not studying in our school. Several schools across the state are following our Facebook page and emulating our activities. This brings up the overall education level of the state. Our Facebook page is one of the most active school pages ever!
  • 35. School Magazine • Monthly newsletter containing creative work of students, teachers and parents • The school magazine is a valid book that informs the parents / students and teachers more about the tradition, culture and activities of the school and also records the development of the school. • It’s indeed a great platform for the students to showcase their drawings and other talents. School magazines are for keeps and are a great treasure for the students.
  • 36. Newspaper in Education: Every student of our school , from primary to secondary, is given a free copy of Times of India NIE daily. It contains important news and lessons for the students and helps in developing the precious habit of newspaper reading, which, of course further enhances their English skills. Students get to know about current affairs, general knowledge and happenings at various schools.
  • 37. Passport to Excellence: • Every Udgamite from Jr. Kg to Grade 5, gets a small passport booklet that records their progress and good deeds throughout the entire academic year • There are stickers for various categories or classroom achievements like reading independently, finishing lunch in time, improving in maths and several more • The stickers encompass all categories of a child’s progress in school • Parents too can give stickers to their children in the same passport booklet in the parents’ section. Passport to Excellence is our endeavour towards rewarding the ‘behaviour’ of our students which indeed goes a long way in shaping their future. So far, we have received very positive feedback from parents and teachers about this project. Students have taken it in a very positive spirit.
  • 38. Homeopathy Clinic: We believe a medical resource in unavoidable in school and our clinic is open for all our students and teachers. • To give the child immediate relief in school and to provide emergency care, we have a running homeopathic clinic in the both the campuses of our school. • We believe that unless a child attends the school regularly, we will not be able to help him or her to the maximum. • It is the fundamental requirement for every child to attend school regularly to reap the benefits of quality education. • The doctor is well qualified and experienced to ensure that students are appropriately monitored and administered.
  • 39. Environmental Initiatives: Education goes hand in hand by setting the right example and creating the necessary awareness. Environment threats like water scarcity, plastic usage are on the rise and, as a school, it’s our duty to contribute towards our planet, in whatever way we can. We believe in “teach by example” where we set an example in the child’s mind that how we can be environmentally friendly. • Rain Water Filtration System and Reverse Borewell: With the underground water level depleting day-by-day, we have constructed a borewell and installed a filtration system in such a way that 70 per cent of the rainwater will be used to charge the aquifers. This prevents water logging inside and outside both of our campuses. • Going Paperless: We use state-of art-technologies to implement some innovative ideas to protect the environment. The parents are notified by using the mobile app and other modes of electronic communications. Even the leave note is sent on mobile and read by the teacher on the mobile. All the urgent internal communication takes place using WhatsApp. • “No” to Plastic: We are taking the necessary steps to minimise plastic usage in the school and encouraging our students and parents to do the same. Recently, we introduced biodegradable nashta bowls for our pre-primary students.
  • 40. Academics: Our priority has been and will always continue to offer holistic education and ensuring well- being of our students. Ever since the school started in 1965, we have successfully maintained a track record of 100% pass rate. We hire the best teachers in town and continually conduct training sessions and workshops to keep them updated with the evolving trends in the field of education. We believe in blending fun with academics to reduce down the pressure on our students. That is why, our educators and supervisors plan a host of activities to help our children retain their knowledge and instill the right values. • Free Worksheets: Each of our students get multiple worksheets from school. Worksheets enable the students to clear concepts in a short time and is useful for the parents to revise too. We also upload extra practice sheets on our portal regularly which the students can practice at home. All our worksheets are very meticulously planned, which minimises the need to buy extra worksheets or workbooks, helping the parents to save costs.
  • 41. Detailed Assessment: Teachers work hard in designing the lessons and articulating them. How a child interprets and understands the same is, however, unpredictable. We respect the fact that all children are not the same and some may not grasp whatever is taught to them. So, what could we do to ensure that each child of our school benefits from our way of teaching? The obvious answer is ‘assessment’. Last year, we have introduced DA ( Direct Assessment) for our students from grade 3 onwards. • DA is a set of assessment that goes hand in hand with the school curriculum and syllabus. • We have tied up with Educational Initiatives for the same. Educational Initiatives is associated with over 3000 school and more than 3.5 lacs students take their benchmark tests. • With the help of DA, the teachers and even the students are able to gauge their level of conceptual understanding. The ultimate aim of DA are : • Individual Analysis • Instant feedback – The students understand where they have gone wrong and how can they do it in a better way. • Remedial measures ( Special classes are arranged where the students can revise their concept and get a better clarity) • Better scope for improvement • With DA in place, our teachers and parents can now stay closely involved in the child’s learning process.
  • 42. Our Teachers- Shaping the future of our Students A highly competent teacher workforce is imperative for improving the students’ educational outcomes, especially for those who rely solely on schools for their successes. Due to the high demand for quality teachers, alongside a diminishing supply and a steady rate of teachers leaving the profession for various reasons students’ academic and economic welfare is considerably threatened. • At, Udgam, we, in no way, compromise on the quality of teachers. • Retaining excellent educators is one of the most important agendas of our institution. • We hire teacher with the appropriate qualifications and experience. • This is to ensure that we have adequate number of qualified teachers for each class and subject. • The high number of teachers is directly proportional to our salary expense, but we believe in providing nothing short of the very best in educating our students. • Also, to ensure that none of our students are overlooked, we have VPs for each section, along with separate supervisors.
  • 43. Special Educators and Counsellors: We respect the fact not all children are equal. There are students with special needs, learning difficulties and behavioural issues. Our commitment is to educate in an unbiased manner. • We have special educators and counsellors who are able to Identify the underlying problems and suggest ways to make education an easy process for such students • About 220 students regularly visiting the counsellors • This multi-tier system helps in smooth teaching- learning experience for our students and teachers
  • 44. School Bus / Transportation: No Compulsory Transportation • Both the locations of Udgam (Jodhpur and Thaltej) are so advantageous for the parents that we don’t find it necessary to keep school transportation compulsory. • We have the option of school transport but that’s totally optional and left to the discretion of the parents. • Many parents have been successfully dropping and picking their wards for years and a lot of them car pool too. • Also, we give reference of van vendors to the interested parents, if they would like to opt for van service for their children. • However, those who choose to opt for the school transportation system, we offer them AC buses and wingers with trained drivers, integrated GPS tracker in the vehicle, and dedicated attendants. • These features ensure students’ safety and comfort while commuting in school transport. • The school suffers a huge loss in transportation.
  • 45. Books, Stationeries and Uniform: • Parents are free to buy books, stationeries and uniform from wherever they want to, as long as they adhere to our list of books given and the uniform. • After class 6, we use only NCERT books which are not very expensive. • At school, we discourage using fancy stationeries. • Using simple pencils, pens, erasers in modest pencil boxes/pouches is encouraged. • This helps in maintaining uniformity among our students and eradicates redundant complications. • Simple uniform rules, having no separate house uniforms or sports uniform. • A simple checked shirt, full length jeans, blue socks and belt. • Parents don’t have to invest in multiple uniforms. • We give all the parents a list of shops that sell Udgam uniform which are available in maximum outlets as compared to any other school. • School is in no way involved in the purchase of books, stationeries and uniforms of our students.
  • 46. Activities: The range of co-curricular activities include: • Dance • Music • Art • Craft • Needle work • Chess • Carrom • Yoga • Karate/self-defence • Before school and After school activities: • We collaborate with the best trainers of the city and offer an interesting range of activities at a subsidized rate. • Activities are optional for the students. It’s an endeavor to bring forth the best faculties under one roof and help the parents and students to pursue any activity of their choice, without having to commute to different corners of the city.
  • 47. A Glimpse of Some Activities conducted during School Hours
  • 48. Sports & Games Following Sports & Games are offered at our school: • Skating • Badminton • Tennis • Football • Cricket • There’s no related party transaction in our school operation • All educational and sports activities are outsourced to renowned organisations who have tie-ups with various other schools, in different parts of India. • Our eminent sports partners are Edusports and Shaishya academy, who have hundreds of thousands of students under them. • All the sports equipment such as racquets, balls, bats, skates etc. are provided by the school and students don’t need to bring anything from their home for sports.
  • 50. Awards and Recognition Over the years, Udgam school has been crowned with several glories and laurels. Some of the awards, we have received in the past are: • Computer Literacy Excellence Awards in 2002 • Udgam has been honoured by Times Education Icons • Udgam has been honoured by Education World Magazine
  • 51. Thank you for watching! We value every parent and student associated with our school. For any query/suggestion/concern, please contact us at info@udgamschool.com
