Montenegro ratified the Convention in 2009;
Law on Protection of Cultural Property
adopted in 2010;
National Programme for Cultural
Development adopted in 2011;
Annual Programme on Protection and
Safeguarding of Cultural Heritage;
3. Workshop on inventorying of ICH held
with UNESCO in 2011;
Project of inventorying implemented in
2012, based on Annual Programme
on Protection and Safeguarding of
Cultural Heritage;
4 intangible cultural properties
protected;
2 intangible cultural properties are
currently in the process of protection

Law on Protection of Cultural Property
prescribed annual adoption of
Programme of protection and
safeguarding of cultural property;
First Programme was adopted by
Government in 2011;
Programme is dedicated to different
projects of local and national
institutions of culture that had not
found their place in the main budget;
5. Average budget for previous 3 years
is 600.000,00 € and it is designed for
the projects for movable, immovable
and intangible cultural heritage;
ICH was treated with projects of
inventorying in 2012 and with the
budget for elaboration of cultural
values of cultural heritage
6. Workshops
First national workshop of experts in
this field was organized and hosted by
Ministry of Culture in 2011;
The idea was to create network of
national experts and exchange
previous experiences in this field;
Local and national institutions were
invited;
About 30 people participated;

8. UNESCO workshop
Community based inventory making
Workshop with the support of
UNESCO held from 24th - 31st October
in Cetinje;
16 people participated (local and
institutions and civil society);
2 UNESCO experts;
2 days of field work;

10. Public interest
Promotion of the Convention and
activities through websites of Ministry
of Culture and the National
Commission for UNESCO of
Montenegro;
Initiatives for the inscriptions of
elements received from citizens;
Most initiatives came from citizens
living in Boka Bay, a UNESCO site;
Complex elements are already
protected
11. Future steps
Creation of body which will be responsible for
applications towards Representative List;
Continuation of inventorying
Making elaborates on cultural values of potential
intangible cultural properties;
Promotional activities
Strengthening human resources
