2. Key Facts about ICH in Macedonia
 Law on Copyright and other Related Rights (1996);
 Law of culture (1998) and Law on the Macedonian
Language Use (1998);
 National Program for Culture for the period 2013-
2017;
 Law on Cultural Heritage Protection enacted March
19th 2004, entering into force on 1st of January 2005;
and 7 Revisions of it.
 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible
Cultural heritage (Paris 2003), enacted 24.04.2006,
entering into force on 12th of May 2006;

3. Key Facts about ICH in Macedonia
 88 elements inscribed on the National List
 19 dialects of Macedonian language
 10 dialects of minority languages
 1 element od toponomastic system
 58 Folk expressions (music, dances, social
practices)

4. UNESCO’s Lists
 Holly Forty Martyrs - social practice from the town of Shtip, on
the Representative List (2013)
 Kopachkata – social dance from the village of Dramche,
Pijanec region, on the Representative List (2014)
 Glasoechko singing – two part male singing from Dolni Polog
on the List of Urgent safeguarding (2015)
 Renewed multinational nominations in 2016
 Martinki/Martishor/or Celebrations of the first of March with
the respective colleagues from Romania, Moldova and
Bulgaria; and
 H’derlez/ Erdelezi or St. George’ day as a common
application with the respective colleagues from Republic of
Turkey.

5. In the last two
years
 National inventory policies;
 Digitisation projects within the
 Institutes for Macedonian
language “Krste Misirkov” –
Skopje (more than 300.000
toponomastic and onomastic
items were digitised
 Institute for folklore “Marko
Cepenkov”- Skopje is dealing
at the moment with 7000
photoses, and another 4000
magnetic tapes….etc.

established Digital national
inventory (in 2013 )

3.000.000 millions euros tailored
project will be supported by the
Government as a priority project
for Digitisation of the institutional
archives in the sphere of cultural
heritage.
Among them the archives of three
authorised institutions for ICH are
taken into account.

7. The role and involvement of the local
communities
 Community based inventories were
developed by the Kopachkata
community.
 Inventory of the tambura players in
the region of Pijanec, 2015
 Mapping of the regional kemene
players in 2014 (concerts,
publications)

9.  • the “school of Glasoechko singing” as an
informal education classes in the
municipality of Jegunovce and
neighbouring three villages;
• trio Gavrovski (practitioners) published
a CD (in 2015) with financial support of
the Ministry of culture.

10. UNESCO club “HAEMUS” actively
participated in the process of
preparing the Martinki application.
They organised thematic traveling
Exhibition with four institution
UNESCO club “HAEMUS” with
collaboration with Arbo Travel
tourist agency from Skopje, started
this year with “UNESCO tour in the
East planned region” in which
synergy between tangible and
intangible are primary.

12. State activities 2015-2016
 Revision of the Cultural Heritage Protection Law
and other related Legal Acts as a mechanisms
were promoted in January 2015;
 Capacity – building Seminar (April 2016)
 organized by the Sofia Regional ICH center
 National Committee of ICTM for Macedonia;

15.  In a very final phase is a National Strategy for
protection and safeguarding the Cultural Heritage
2016-2020 which has a great involvement of the
ICH.
 Ministry of culture developed special financial
mechanisms separate budget to provide The
effective implementation of the 2003 Convention
through the revitalisation projects
 And as a very last happening is the redesigning of
the institutional structure of the Cultural Heritage
Protection Office was improved by the
Government last week with the fosuk on new
established Sector/Unit for cataloguing,
digitisation and
