42. PROPOSAL OF STRATEGIES FOR THE INTEGRATION
OF THE FAMILY AND COMMUNITY IN THE
EDUCATIONAL PROCESS
43. JUSTIFICATION
The proposal for this investigation is a great benefit for the high school
because it can be used to achieve the goal that is to integrate family
and community through the development of activities, and strategies
that can help.
44. GENERAL OBJECTIVE
To provide a proposal model that can integrate the family and
community to enhance the learning process, creating a good
environment for the well-being of the student population, in Liceo Lanas
in Puriscal, 2017.
45. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
• To propose strategies that promote integration and interest of the
family and community towards the institution increasing the
performance of the students
• To develop strategies and activities that allow support from parents
and community, increasing the participation of students.
46. DEVELOPMENT OF THE PROPOSAL
• Researchers ask for permission to the Principal of the High School to carry out the
proposal in Liceo Rural Lanas.
• Investigators ask the Principal for the permission to go to the High School to present
the Principal and teachers the different strategies and activities to achieve the
integration of the family and community with the High School.
• The proposal is developed in three different steps.
47. DEVELOPMENT OF THE PROPOSAL
• Educative afternoon for parents: Thus, the proposal is based on
the start the year sending a note to all parents in a very creative way
inviting them to come in an afternoon to the High School to have an
educative time with them and have a coffee. The purpose of this step
is to encourage parents to support more the students and to help
them to make good decisions for their future by studying and to avoid
giving up. On the other hand, the proposal works to share with parents
a nice afternoon and talk about how important their role is in
education and promote the participation of them towards the High
School.
48. DEVELOPMENT OF THE PROPOSAL
• Family and Sports Sunday: It helps to stimulate the participation of
the community, parents, students and teachers, helping to gather all of
them in one area for the institution benefit. Liceo Rural Lanas can take
advantage of this activity to attract the community and to make some
money to improve the institution. There are different activities to
participate in, games, Zumba, aerobics, food, and more.
• The development of this activity with total collaboration of the teachers
and principal is important to achieve the goal, so the idea is to receive
people who desire to establish a close relation with Liceo Rural Lanas
and recognize their good job for the education. At the same time, it
helps new generations from the primary level to feel excited to be
studying in High School when they see the activities and the example
of older students collaborating with Lanas.
49. DEVELOPMENT OF THE PROPOSAL
• Christmas festival: Activity where there will be music, students show
their performance, teachers participate and the community is invited to
join the event. It is a way to show the good work of the institution and
gather the members of the community.
• Students can demonstrate many of their skills. For instance, they can
develop role plays related to Christmas time and daily situations that
they live in High School. In addition, students can show their language
and musical abilities by singing Christmas songs in English, and
playing some instruments to harmonize the songs. Additionally, people
from the community can share different types of dishes or sell them
during the event to get money to help the High School or the students.
50. SWOT ANALYSIS
• Strengths: Motivation of the teachers towards the improvement of
family and High School relationship.
• Weaknesses: Demotivation.
• Opportunities: Integration.
• Threats: Distance of parents in the community.
51. IMPACTS OF THE PROPOSAL
• Academic impact: Students will be encouraged to continue studying
• Social impact: Reinforcement of values among the community, family,
and High School throughout the different activities established in the
proposal.
• Community impact: To understand the importance of the institution
into the community.
• Impact on the students: It will be in the life of the student and the
learning process.
• Impact on teachers: More conscious teachers.
52. OTHER STUDIES DERIVED
• A wide study that involves High Schools from different parts of the
country can be very useful to get information from several principals
and teachers.
• An investigation based on a comparison between rural and urban
High Schools can be relevant to determine if location represents an
essential factor in the way of thinking family has about education and
the necessity of being part of it.
