Celebrate National KidsDay with Summer Adventure Program
Fort Worth, Apr. 16 – With the arrival of the annual Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge’s
Summer Adventure Program, what better way to end the program with a day all about children?
Most children today are all about technology. We want to show children there are better and
more fun things to do.
KidsPeace National Spokesperson Leeza Gibbons said that “We all do our best, and in these
busy times it's so important to make sure that the time we do spend with children is as
meaningful as possible. National KidsDay is an opportunity to remind ourselves to give the gift
of heartfelt time every day to the most important people in our lives."
Here are some tips to celebrate a day all about children:
• Take It Outside: Being outdoors is a lot of fun. There are plenty of activities for
families to do. Sports are always a favorite. There is a variety of sports children can
choose from. What about hunts? There are plenty of hunts you can do such as: scavenger
hunt, treasure hunt, bug hunt and bird hunts. Fun outdoor activities can also include:
water balloon fights, rally races, gardening, bubbles, and plenty more. And what about
some old classic favorites such as: duck, duck, goose; hide and seek; hopscotch and
freeze tag.
• Indoors: Being inside does not have to be boring. There are plenty of activities to do
indoors too. Setting up an obstacle course, baking sweet treats, movie marathon, building
forts and playing activities with music such as freeze dance.
• Be Creative: Arts and Crafts are great hands on activities. What about some art pieces
like painting on a canvas, drawing with chalk, and melted crayon art. Some DIYs (do it
yourself) are great fun too. Children can learn to make their own silly putty, slime, play
dough, candles and scrapbooks.

• Good Food: Who doesn’t love good and healthy food? Leave the fast food out and try
these awesome alternatives. Baked apple and banana chips are great alternatives for
those fattening potato chips. Smoothies are great for a healthy and sweet touch. Fruits
and vegetables are also great for snacks.
Despite all the technology that our keep our children busy, there are many different activities
available to keep them active and to minimize the time they spend on technology. By spending
time and introducing them to new activities, it shifts their focus to things other than technology.

Dear Ms. Niebes:
What better way to end the summer with National KidsDay?
The Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge is having their annual Summer Adventure Program for
children grades kindergarten through sixth grade. After the adventure begins, National KidsDay
is a couple days after the program starts. This is a great way for children to end their summer.
In the article from kidspeace.org, KidsPeace President and CEO William Isemann stated “National
KidsDay give American another opportunity to let children know they are special and loved, whether
they are our own children, or grandchildren or any child.”
Are you interested in the article I have outlined? If so, please call me at (xxx) xxx-xxxx.
I have 2 nieces and a nephew and I’m very close to them. They have their own iPads and it’s
sometimes hard to get them to stay away from it. But when I do take them outside, they have a
great time. Taking them to the park, riding their bikes, playing on the swing set; they could stay
there forever. These are just the few activities we do. I believe it’s important to love and
appreciate our children. They are our future.
Sincerely,
Tran Nguyen
