EMPLOYMENT HISTORY

Throughout this period gained a range of instrument and production experience across the Forties Field, North Sea (6
platforms). Initially worked as a multi-skilled instrument technician on Forties Alpha (6 years) before moving to cross-field
maintenance within Forties Field (4 platforms) as Instrument team leader (4 years). By 2000, took on ‘Normally Unmanned
Installation’ (NUI) maintenance for Forties Echo and Unity platform. Finally, worked as multi-skilled instrumentation
technician on Forties Bravo.
Instrumentation Technician (Forties Bravo) (2008 to July 2016)
Worked within a multi-skilled production team (7) providing planned and critical maintenance of platform process
equipment including fire and gas systems. Undertook a number of projects to maintain safe, reliable and available
operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Undertake safety critical instrument planned maintenance routines for ESD systems and process plant
• Carry out fire and gas testing and maintenance including gas, smoke and flame detection systems
• Day to day safe running of the platform, fault finding and repairs to maintain platform performance standards
• Complete all recording and documentation within the SAP system to reach performance standards
• Highly involved in all platform major projects including partial process installation and commissioning (separation of
oil from water using 2 stage hydro cyclones approx 60,000 bpd), DeltaV control and fire & gas system and
chemical injection system.
Achievements
• Ensured that all maintenance (safety critical and planned) was completed on time, standards and with no over dues
• Fire & gas maintenance was completed within the given time frame. No overrides in place in accordance with HSE
• Consistently achieved the day to day safe operation of the process plant, reviewing work permits, carrying out STOP
& safety tours
• Liaised with SAP co-ordinator to develop maintenance alignment. This resulted in efficiencies in workflow, reduction
in down time and ultimately business costs
• Coaching and encouraging new employees, developing their skills and experiences
• Undertook essential plant removal, resulting in the reduction of costs and timely maintenance
Instrumentation Technician (Forties Unity) (2000 to July 2008)
Member of the Forties NUI team on a platform flow rate of c. 500,000 bpd. Responsible for first line maintenance, response
to equipment failures and minor projects to maintain safe, reliable and available operations.
Key Outputs
• Directly involved in the installation and commissioning of Honeywell DCS control systems including Fire & Gas
• Provided installation and commissioning of the ‘Kittiwake’ 14” oil riser pipeline
• Addressed reliability issues of ESDV Actuators, replacing with new and oil industry proven actuators. This ensured
that critical instrument trip testing could be carried out
