Ok, we have been telling brands for ages that SA and Africa are different and is not a Smart phone market 'yet' (9% penetration).
However they will proudly launch their mobi sites that do not conetent adapt and only work on Smart Phones.
Mobilising properly is not hard, you just need to know what you are doing. This 2 minute presentation was done quickly this morning for the Buzz City conference in Cape Town after seeing the latest mobile launch from a famous online retailer here in SA. It a slightly harder line that we usually take to try and get this message through. The world is full of descrimination and South Africa has made so much progress in this regard and is a wonderful place to live and work.
Mobile is for everyone, as brands there is massive opportunity, but in this new channel it is our duty to make our wares accessible to all.
Guys... F&%^ing wake up and get someone decent on your mobile strategy, your existing agencies clearly cant do it, and you certainly cannot do it inhouse. Give mobile (and its users) the respect and importance it deserves.
