Revising Instructional Materials
This lesson will show how to make changes that are made
to the content of materials.
The changes may relate to the procedures employed in
using the materials.
• Describe various methods for summarizingdata obtained fromformative evaluationstudies.
• Summarize data obtainedfrom formative evaluationstudies.
• Give example ofData that can be use in the revision purpose.
• The final step in planning process is
• Revising Instruction
• This process describe “how test results and student
attitude” can be used to improve the quality of teacher
instructional activity.
• Revising Instruction is based upon the data that the
teacher collect during the implementation phase.
• In Revising Instruction, the data that are collected should
be concern with student performance and student
attitude.
• The first is changes that are made to the content or
substance of the materials to make them more accurate
or more effective as a learning tool.
• The second type of change is related to the procedures
employed in using your materials.
• Derive assessment instruments based on the
objectives to:
Diagnose an individual’s possessions of the necessary
prerequisites for learning new skills
 Check the results of student learning during the process
of a lesson
 Provide document of students progress for parents or
administrators
• It is useful in evaluating the instructional system
itself (Formative/ Summative evaluation) and for
early determination of performance measures before
the development of lesson plan and instructional
materials
• Learner characteristics
• Entry behavior
• Direct responses to the instruction
• Learning time
• Posttest performance
• Responses to an attitude questionnaire
• Comments made directly in the materials
• A step by steep
determination of
what individuals
are doing when
they perform the
goal and what entry
behaviors are
needed.

the context in
which the learners
will use their skills
with the
instructions.
• The data that used for revising instruction can be
gathered before, during and after the student participate
in the lesson process.
• Pretest data; the data that collected prior to presenting
the lesson (before)
• Posttest data; the data that collected after presenting the
lesson (after)
• The data that are collected should be concern with
student performance and student attitude.

• Paper and pencil test
• It is usually used to measure intellectual skills and
knowledge objectives)
• Observation using checklist or rating scale
• It is usually used to measure student motor skill and
attitude)

• Several brief quizzes

• Student performance on posttests (look at performance
on each objective separately).
• Student attitudes following instruction

• Student performance on pretest
• Student attitudes prior to instruction
• Student performance on practice exercises and quizzes
during instruction
• Observation of student attitudes during instruction
• OBSERVATIONAL ASSESSMENT is the most common form of
formative assessment. Teachers can circulate the room to
monitor students' progress.
• SELECTED RESPONSE ASSESSMENTS are any type of
objective exam where there is only one correct answer for each
question. Multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, matching and
true/false questions are all types of selected response
assessments.
• CONSTRUCTED RESPONSE ASSESSMENTS require students
to generate their own response rather than selecting a single
response from several possible ones.
• PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENTS require students to perform
as a means of showing they understand class material.
• PORTFOLIO ASSESSMENTS evaluate a student's progress
over the course of the semester.
As a life-long leaner, I see the importance of making sure
our materials are up to date with all the methodologies that
maybe constantly changing. Technology is one of the
constantly changing methods of learning that is known
today. The frequency of change is primarily dependent on
the field but should be kept be aware of at all times.

  • 19. As a life-long leaner, I see the importance of making sure our materials are up to date with all the methodologies that maybe constantly changing. Technology is one of the constantly changing methods of learning that is known today. The frequency of change is primarily dependent on the field but should be kept be aware of at all times.
