known island and called as Taprobane/ Salike.
• Chinese claimed it is the “Island Of Gems” and a
famous center on the Silk road ocean route for

as “Jade pendant of the Indian Ocean”.

(SLTDA) to achieve its goal to develop diverse, unique and quality tourism
services and products that would make Sri Lanka as a unique destination,
globally.

The naturalist is a company which provides travel facility to the travelers in all
around the world. Being a responsible travel company, we are linking our country
with travelers by getting them to experience our culture, history, nature and local
community.
Our main target is to sail the guest in natural environment and local community in
one wind to meet the sustainable aspect by sharing benefits among all. We have
clearly identified that our guests are highly important for us and we are highly
concerned on their safety by ensuring health and better experience during their stay
in Sri Lanka.

Day 1-5:
• Archeology, culture and traditional industries in UNESCO world
heritage sites in Anuradhapuraya /Polonnaruwa & Kandy. Tea country
tour or rainforest tour in Kithulgala and afterward whitewater rafting.
Day 5-8
• Full day safari at Yala NP and experiencing traditional village life. Local
music and optional ritualistic ceremony. Whale watching in Mirissa or
participating a turtle conservation project.
Day 8-12
• Enjoying tropical beaches and getting closer with locals in Galle &
Colombo. Still fishing, traditional mask industry and preparing fish
Ambulthial in a local house. Colonial fort, local arts, museum visit and
shopping.

• Accompanied Tour Guides/ guest relation officers
Guests will be accompanied with a professional tour guide (and a guest relation officer upon
request) with minimum 05 years of field experience plus a bachelor’s degree in environment
conservation and ecotourism related field.
• Vehicles
Most updated fully loaded comfortable travel vehicles (Toyota KDH high roof, Toyota hi-lux
4WD safari Jeep, Land Rover Defender, Toyota hybrid car, Toyota Coaster 12 Seater Bus, and
Mitsubishi Rosa Bus ) are hired from a prestigious vehicle facilitating company who. During our
safaris we provide back-up vehicle in any cause within 30 minute.
• Safety & Health
Qualified doctors and both government and private hospitals are available all around the
country. Our tour guides we employ have undergone first aid trainings. All hotels selected have a
doctor on call and a trained staff.
We provide insect repellents and sunscreens at any time. However, we encourage our guests to
carry a personal insect repellant and a sunscreen always with them which suits to their skin.
• Food & beverage
We ensure our guests’ food, water and sanitary facilities are maintained in healthy manner by
inspecting each destination, such as hotels, home stays and camping sites. All food and beverage
that we provide are inspected and providers have entered in to agreements with the Naturalist.

16. Food policy We purchase locally grown food to support the local rural communities and
farmers. Buying local food provides a tasty, fresh and nutritious meal to our
valued guests. Especially, local foods promote food safety, conserve energy and
protect the environment.

Policy
The Naturalist demand the environmentally & socially just sustainable tourism
practice to conserve nature, and to empower local communities towards Sri
Lanka's sustainable development, without sacrificing the ultimate pleasure of the
guest. We encourage our guests to be eco friendly, and socially responsible during
their stay.
The Naturalist has successfully developed a number of responsible tourism
practices with standards set well above the environmental protection
requirements of local regulations through variety of energy conservation, food
storage and waste management techniques within our campsite.
The Naturalist also promotes conservation education among kids in rural areas of
the island through a conservation education program.
Environment
Policy
We promote eco-tourism and low carbon practices. Our campsites are plastic &
polythene-free zone. We are putting our maximum effort be a zero waste
company. We plant trees in our land to offset our emissions and we go carbon
neutral. All food wastes goes to a traditional compost pit and waste water passes
through a traditional plant based muddy plot.
