• Inspite of her rural background and in the
prevalent social taboo forbidding education
of girls in rural set up, she was able to force
her way and continue her schooling.
She graduated from the Maharani College,
Jaipur, in Economic (Honours) in 1987 and
also obtained her NCC 'C' Certificate, the
following year. While studying in the
prestigious Maharani College, Jaipur, she
found her way to the Himalayas through the
Aravali Mountains. In 1986 she did her
Basic Mountaineering Course from the
Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM),
Uttarkashi with 'A' Grading and saw snow /
ice for the first time in her life. In the

Santosh Yadav inspires us to be determined
to our goal and that nothing can stop us from
achieving it. She herself worked for it even
when all were against her. She also proved
that there is no age bar to achieve your goal
by climbing Mt. Everest at the age of 20 and
being the youngest to do this and also went
on to win the Padmashri Award.
