2. What is cloud computing
• Cloud computing is not a new
technology.
• If you are using smartphone then
also you are using cloud computing.
• If you are using email, Facebook,
YouTube, etc. then also you are using
cloud technology.
• Example:- drop box, google drive,
AWS (Elastic cloud computing),
Microsoft Azure , iCloud (apple) etc.
3. NIST
(National Institute of Standard and Technology)
Cloud computing is a model for enabling ubiquitous,
convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool
of configurable computing resources (e.g., networks,
servers, storage, applications, and services) that can be
rapidly provisioned and released with minimal
management effort or service provider interaction.
4. Advantages of cloud computing
On – demand self-services.
Broad network access and High Availability.
Resource pooling.
Rapid elasticity.
Measured Services.
Flexibility in Capacity.
Automated Updates on Software.
Security.
5. Disadvantages of cloud computing
• No longer in control.
• May not get all the features.
• Doesn't mean you should do away with servers.
• No Redundancy.
• Cost concerns.
6. Mainly Four Deployment Models
1. Public Cloud:- The cloud infrastructure is provisioned for open use by the public and
also entire structure is managed by the vendor.
2. Private Cloud:-The cloud infrastructure is provisioned for exclusive use by a particular
organization users, and also its not open to the world.
3. Hybrid Cloud:- Some resource is on public cloud and some on private cloud is called
Hybrid cloud.
4. Community Cloud:- The cloud infrastructure is provisioned for exclusive use by a
specific group of organization.

8. What is private cloud?
The private cloud is defined as computing services offered either over the
Internet or a private internal network and only to select users instead of the
general public.
Private cloud is a computing model that offers a proprietary environment
dedicated to a single business entity.
In addition, private clouds deliver a higher level of security and privacy
through both company firewalls and internal hosting to ensure operations and
sensitive data are not accessible to third-party providers.
9. DRAWBACK
• One drawback is that the company’s IT department is held responsible for
the cost and accountability of managing the private cloud.
• So private clouds require the same staffing, management and maintenance
expenses as traditional datacenter ownership.
10. Two models for cloud services can be
delivered in a private cloud.
• The first is infrastructure as a service (IaaS) which allows a company to use
infrastructure resources such as compute, network and storage as a service.
• The second is platform as a service (PaaS) which lets a company deliver everything
from simple cloud-based applications to sophisticated-enabled enterprise
applications.
• Private clouds can also be combined with public clouds to create a hybrid cloud,
allowing the business to take advantage of cloud bursting to free up more space and
scale computing services to the public cloud when computing demand increases.
11. Cloud Computing Service Models
Cloud computing services are offered through three broad service models:-
Software as a Service (SaaS) – The service provider provides the full stack. The subscriber merely
consumes the cloud service.
Platform as a Service (PaaS) – The service provider provides the platforms (Network, Storage,
Servers, Virtualization, Operating System, Middleware and Runtime). The subscriber is responsible for
the, Data and Application.
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) – The service provider provides the infrastructure (Network,
Storage, Servers & Virtualization). The subscriber is responsible for the Operating System,
Middleware, Runtime, Data and Application).
