Research Report
 7/8 and 15 GHz progressively
losing importance in favor of
18/23 GHz, due to topology change
and congestion
 38 GHz stable
 Insignificant volumes in 28, 32 and 42 GHz
 Negligible volume in V-Band
 E-band growing
 Total number of links currently in operation worldwide estimated at 4 Million

26 (24.5-26.5) MEDIUM MEDIUM High in some regions (Europe), block license for PMP in some countries
28 (27.5-29.5) LOW UNCERTAIN Growing today, but future depends on outcome of 5G spectrum.
32 (31.8-33.4) LOW UNCERTAIN Growing today, but future depends on outcome of 5G spectrum.
38 (37-39.5) HIGH HIGH Expected to be more flat in future, since E-band used for multi-gigabit
42 (40.5-43.5) VERY LOW UNCERTAIN Growing today, but future depends on outcome of 5G spectrum.
48 (48.5-50.2) NOTHING NOTHING
52 (51.4-52.6) NOTHING NOTHING
55 (55.78-57) NOTHING NOTHING
V-band (57-66) VERY LOW HIGH Unlicensed in most countries for Small Cell Backhaul
E-band (71-76, 81-86) LOW HIGH Suitable for Multi-Gbps (per carrier) over a few kilometers
 Significant regional differences on the use of frequency bands deriving from rain
intensity statistics
 Europe mostly on 26 and 38 GHz after 15, 18 and 23 severely crowded
 Far East and Latin America mostly on 7/8, 15, 18 and 23 GHz

WI#4: V-band interference analysis
• Analysis of interference in dense
deployment of V-Band PP radio at street
level
• Two scenarios are considered:
• BH carried on by means of
traditional FS systems, ETSI compliant
• BH carried on by means of WiGig
systems
• Main target is to evaluate performance
and robustness to interference using ETSI
parameters also in case of WiGig-like
deployment for Backhauling, where
channel bandwidth is much wider (10
times) and no ATPC available

Interference figures with WiGig-like channels
64-QAM - 32 dBi
64-QAM - 38 dBi
 Due to the wide WiGig BW and consequent low number of available
channels, an adequate interference figure is very problematic
 Narrower channels reduce interference levels
Next step: evaluate interference level when WiGig & FS share the same band

CS= 1 GHz

WI#4: V-band interference analysis • Analysis of interference in dense deployment of V-Band PP radio at street level • Two scenarios are considered: • BH carried on by means of traditional FS systems, ETSI compliant • BH carried on by means of WiGig systems • Main target is to evaluate performance and robustness to interference using ETSI parameters also in case of WiGig-like deployment for Backhauling, where channel bandwidth is much wider (10 times) and no ATPC available Victim link Interferer links Monte Carlo Analysis Scenario
