With a mission to provide a free world-class education for
anyone, anywhere

5. It all started when Salman Khan’s cousin, Nadia needed help with
her math class. Khan started tutoring her over internet using
Yahoo!’s Doodle notepad. When other relatives and friends
sought his tutoring, he moved his tutorials to YouTube.

He quit his job as a financial analyst and

While Salman was struggling with his dream, Ann Doerr, wife of John
Doerr, a venture capitalist transferred US $100,000 to his account. In
2010, ‘The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’ provided him with $1.5 million
and Google provided $2 million in the same year.

The videos show step-by-step doodles and diagrams on an electronic blackboard.
It also has a web-based exercise system. Now it has tools and features to help
teachers and parents also.
