terms of automotive vehicles.
About 40% of the applied fuel
into a vehicle is lost as waste
exhaust to the environment. The
desire for improved fuel
efficiency by recovering the
exhaust waste heat in
automobiles has become an
important subject.

4. INTRODUCTION
Currently, all hybrid vehicles,
including micro, mild and full hybrids,
adopt internal combustion engines which
are inefficient in general, regenerative
braking system and other technologies are
employed to recover the power loss.
we can improve the fuel economy
and vehicle efficiency by using an
alternative way which is generating power
from renewable energy sources like solar
energy and heat energy from the exhaust
gases we can generate electricity by using
photo-voltaic cells and thermo-electric
generators.
5. THERMO ELECTRIC GENERATOR
• Thermo Electric Generator is a solid
state device that converts heat flux
(temperature differences) directly into
electrical energy through a phenomenon
called the Seebeck effect (a form
of thermoelectric effect).
• The temperature difference can be
provided by placing the TEG unit between
hot side (exhaust pipe) and cold
side(ambient surroundings or by
external cooling) with help of two heat
exchangers.

two different metals are
maintained at different
temperature the EMF is
produced in the circuit. This is
known as SEEBACK EFFECT.

battery can be recharged with the
two generation inputs like solar
and peltier.

system we can run the vehicle by

i.e.., electric motor and IC

The present research work is oriented for the generation of thermo EMF by
utilizing the waste heat contents. This work also implies for the utilization of electric
field, magnetic field and stress which can exist already in the operating conditions or can
be applied externally for better results to fulfill the need of charging the battery without
an external power source.
