Year 5 & 6 Homework

Term 1, Week 5 and 6 DUE: Friday, 11th March 2011
You know what is expected of you and your homework. (See Homework Expectations)
Do your best and hand it in on time.
Tick off the checklist when you’ve done it to help you keep a track.
Remember your beautiful book standards.
Write in ONLY black pen. Underline in red. Pictures etc use colouring pencils.
SPELLING
 Each night learn my spelling words,
THEN…
 Have a parent test me and sign my notebook every night.
READING
 Read a book fiction or non-fiction, magazine, dictionary, comic, cookbook etc
and fill in your Reading log. If you don’t have a reader or library book
remember it can be a FREE CHOICE book.
 Remember to read for at least 20 minutes.
NUMERACY
 Go on www.mathletics.co.nz each night for at least 10 minutes and filled in my
Mathletics Log. Ask your Maths teacher if you lose your username and/or
password.
 As extra practise my family of facts to 20 or my times tables, especially if I
have set a goal.
e.g. 9 + 11 = 20, 11 + 9 = 20, 20 – 9 = 11, 20 – 11 = 9
TOPIC
 Draw a diagram of your family tree back to your grandparents.
 You can add photos of your family members, birth dates, or any interesting
information.
 Decorate and make it presentable.
 This may be done on 1 page in your Homework book or as a small poster to be
displayed in the class.
