Zones of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
• Zone-1:- The agencies, including Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Kurram, Orakzai,
North Waziristan, South Waziristan, and Frontier Regions attached to the Districts
of Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu, and Dera Ismail Khan.
• Zone-2:- Districts of Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, and Mardan.
• Zone-3:- Districts of Swat, Buner, Dir, Chitral, Kohistan, Shangla Par and Malakand
Areas (Swat Ranizai and Sam Ranizai and backward areas of Hazara Division, i.e.
(1) Ilaqa Upper Tanawal composed of Darband Area f Tehsil Haripur and Shergarh
area of District Mansehra and (2)merged Areas composed of Battagram including
Hill Nilshang and Thakot, Allai Kaya Khabbal and Gadoon Area.
• Zone-4:- Districts of Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Kohat and
Karak.
• Zone-5:- Districts of Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra, excluding their backward
areas included in Zone-3.
Demographics
• Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has an estimated population of about 26 million, according
to 2011 estimates, that is an increase of 51.6% over 1998 figures. The largest
ethnic group is the Pashtun, who historically have been living in the areas for
centuries.

• The current province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had a population of 35.5 million at the
time of the 2017 Census of Pakistan. Over 83% of the population lived in rural areas.[1]
• The largest ethnic group are the Pashtuns, who historically have been living in the areas
for centuries.[100] Around 1.5 million Afghan refugees also remain in the
province,[101] the majority of whom are Pashtuns followed by Tajiks, Hazaras, Gujjar and
other smaller groups. Despite having lived in the province for over two decades, they
are registered as citizens of Afghanistan.[102]
• The Pashtuns of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa observe tribal code of conduct
called Pashtunwali which has four high value components
called nang (honor), badal (revenge), melmastiya (hospitality) and nanawata (rights to
refuge).[3]

Religion[edit]
• The overwhelming majority of the residents of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa follows
and professes the Sunni Islam while the small number of Shias of Islam are found
among the Isma'ilis in the Chitral district.[106] The tribe of Kalasha in
southern Chitral still retain an ancient form of Hinduism mixed with Animism, a
faith once dominant in the mountainous upper northeast of the
district.[106] There are very small numbers of residents who are the adherents
of Roman Catholicism denomination of Christianity, Hinduism and Sikhism,
mainly living in Peshawar and other urban centres

The total population of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas was estimated in 2000 to be about 3,341,080 people,
or roughly 2% of Pakistan's population. Only 3.1% of the population resides in established townships.[26] It is thus the most
rural administrative unit in Pakistan. According to 2011 estimates FATA gained 62.1% population over its 1998 figures, totaling
up to 4,452,913. This was the fourth-highest increase in population of any province, after that of Balochistan, Sindh and Gilgit-
Baltistan.[27]
Languages[edit]
According to the 2017 census of Pakistan, 98.4% of the population of FATA had Pashto as mother tongue, followed by 0.49% Urdu,
0.28% Punjabi, 0.10% Sindhi and 0.08% spoke Balochi.[29]

the Sunni Hanafi Fiqh.

around 50,000 religious minority members living in former FATA
region. These include 20,000 Sikh, 20,000 Christians and 10,000
Hindus.[

Zones of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa • Zone-1:- The agencies, including Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Kurram, Orakzai, North Waziristan, South Waziristan, and Frontier Regions attached to the Districts of Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu, and Dera Ismail Khan. • Zone-2:- Districts of Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, and Mardan. • Zone-3:- Districts of Swat, Buner, Dir, Chitral, Kohistan, Shangla Par and Malakand Areas (Swat Ranizai and Sam Ranizai and backward areas of Hazara Division, i.e. (1) Ilaqa Upper Tanawal composed of Darband Area f Tehsil Haripur and Shergarh area of District Mansehra and (2)merged Areas composed of Battagram including Hill Nilshang and Thakot, Allai Kaya Khabbal and Gadoon Area. • Zone-4:- Districts of Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Kohat and Karak. • Zone-5:- Districts of Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra, excluding their backward areas included in Zone-3.
  • 3. Demographics • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has an estimated population of about 26 million, according to 2011 estimates, that is an increase of 51.6% over 1998 figures. The largest ethnic group is the Pashtun, who historically have been living in the areas for centuries.   • 4. • The current province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had a population of 35.5 million at the time of the 2017 Census of Pakistan. Over 83% of the population lived in rural areas.[1] • The largest ethnic group are the Pashtuns, who historically have been living in the areas for centuries.[100] Around 1.5 million Afghan refugees also remain in the province,[101] the majority of whom are Pashtuns followed by Tajiks, Hazaras, Gujjar and other smaller groups. Despite having lived in the province for over two decades, they are registered as citizens of Afghanistan.[102] • The Pashtuns of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa observe tribal code of conduct called Pashtunwali which has four high value components called nang (honor), badal (revenge), melmastiya (hospitality) and nanawata (rights to refuge).[3] • Language[edit] • Languages of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (2017)[103] • Pashto (76.86%) • Hindko (11.48%) • Saraiki (3.72%) • Others combined (7.94%)

Religion[edit] • The overwhelming majority of the residents of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa follows and professes the Sunni Islam while the small number of Shias of Islam are found among the Isma'ilis in the Chitral district.[106] The tribe of Kalasha in southern Chitral still retain an ancient form of Hinduism mixed with Animism, a faith once dominant in the mountainous upper northeast of the district.[106] There are very small numbers of residents who are the adherents of Roman Catholicism denomination of Christianity, Hinduism and Sikhism, mainly living in Peshawar and other urban centres

According to 2011 estimates FATA gained 62.1% population over its 1998 figures, totaling up to 4,452,913. This was the fourth-highest increase in population of any province, after that of Balochistan, Sindh and Gilgit- Baltistan.[27] Languages[edit] According to the 2017 census of Pakistan, 98.4% of the population of FATA had Pashto as mother tongue, followed by 0.49% Urdu, 0.28% Punjabi, 0.10% Sindhi and 0.08% spoke Balochi.[29]
