1. I have used a variety of websites to allow me to research , plan and
gain feedback for the creation of my product. These are the
websites that I have used to achieve this.
2. I used Google to research existing music magazine products and this process
is shown in these images of how I searched for front covers, contents pages
and double page spreads. I also used google to research information on these
magazines and their distributors. Google also provided me to find relevant
websites for font generators when creating my product.
3. I used survey monkey to create questionnaires to gain feedback on which
genre my target audience would be most interested in for my magazine
product to be based on. I also received information on the content they
would expect to be included within the magazine such as interviews and
also feedback on the ideal house style. Survey monkey allowed me to send
the questionnaire through a web link or email to be able to approach
people to answer it.
4. I have used blogger throughout the creation of my product to clealry present
the orderly process from planning, to research and then towards the creation of
my product. Blogger allows for my teacher to look through all my work and add
comments for improvements if necessary. The blog archive feature allows for
my teacher to quickly and easily navigate through my work.
5. Prezi allowed me to plan out my ideal target audience for my music magazine
by segments such as age, gender, income bracket, musical preferences and
interests. This is so that I am able to keep in mind a specific target audience
when creating my product. Prezi allows me to publish my presentation
online, download or embed it if I wished to send it.
6. To present my research of existing products, planning towards my product
and the creation of my product I have used word, publisher and
powerpoint so that my work is created in an effective way before
publishing it on my blog.
7. I used word to create small and simple planning documents and
drafts. Here I have shown that I used word to put images together
to provide a visual plan of costume for the photoshoot towards the
creation of my product.
8. I used powerpoint to create documents for my research on existing
products. I used powerpoint for this because it was a good way to
clearly present images and textual annotation together.
9. I used publisher to create the actual product of my magazine. Publisher provided
margins, ideal to follow for actual print size so that all content maintained on the
page. Publisher also allowed me to freely place the content where I wanted to.
10. While I was creating my product I used these two font generators so that I had
a wider choice of fonts to use within my product. This also made my product
appear more professional as I was able to use fonts typical to existing music
magazine products.
11. These are the main fonts that I have used on my product from font
generators. The top row show the fonts used on my front cover. I used
bolder fonts commonly used on magazine front covers to attract the
readers attention. I also used a standard format text and italics to break up
bold sections of text.
The second row show the fonts used for my contents page. The fonts I have
used here are mostly bold fonts for headlines and titles and sans serif text
for additional descriptive text.
The last row show the fonts used for my double page spread. Here I have
used sans serif for the main body text as this is easier for the readers eye to
follow and titles are also sans serif but are larger in size. I then used a more
curvasive text for the main quote to represent femininity and it shows that
its separate from the rest of the text on the page and headlines the main
body text.
12. To take my images I used a cannon EOS 1100D and studio
equipment to create professional looking images. I also used a
tripod to prevent camera shake which would effect the image
quality.
13. This is a contact sheet displaying all the images I took and showing the various shot
types I experimented with and this allowed for a wider choice of images to choose
from to use within my product.
14. These are the 4 final original images I used within my product, before I edited
them.
16. To remove the background on my images I used this selection of tools.
The first tool I used was the Quick selection tool which allowed me to
select the whole background and leave a clean line against the outline of
the model as this tool ‘sticks’ to the predicted edge. Alternatively I could
also use the Lasso tool but this would take more time and further editing
to create a clean edge. To proceed in removing the background the
selection tool is still highlighting the area I wish to delete so I then
choose the Background eraser tool and this allows for only the selected
area to be removed. After this stage and the background is removed I
then touch up the edge of the model with the Blur tool so that this
creates a soft edge to the image.
17. Here you can see the three main stages of removing the
background and replacing it with a new one.

magazine front cover, contents page and double page
spread.
