Making a plan
Always have your meals for the week
planned in advance. There is a
greater chance that you will try to eat
healthier
Getting involved
One very important part to trying to
get kids to eat healthier is to get them
involved. Give them simple jobs that
make them feel important. And by the
end, they will want to eat the food
that they worked really hard at
making. Also, don’t be a short order
cook. Make one thing for dinner.
Making something else for the picky
eaters in the family will just make
them more picky and less open to
trying new foods.
Quick healthy snacks
By Sara Sica and
Lauren SomeroBe a role model
When kids see you eating
healthy, they will want to follow in your
footsteps. This doesn’t mean eating
fruits and veggies 100% of the time, it
simply means teaching your children
what healthy eating is.
To most children, eating fruits and
veggies doe not sound appealing. It is
your job, as the adult to make it fun!
Make smiley faces with their food, or
give the food a funny name like “baby
trees” or “dinosaur food” for broccoli.
Making kids know that it’s okay to
have fun while eating healthy is key.

There is a difference between 100%
organic and organic. 100% organic is
that the whole product needs to be
organic. The organic is that it is at least
95% organic product. There are also
some products that are just made with
organic ingredients; they are made up
with at least 70% organic ingredients.
What is organic?
Organic foods are made in a
way that limits the use of
synthetic materials during
production.
Natural food
Has pesticides
Genetically modified
Pesticides
On a test done by United States
Department Of Agriculture (USDA) 98%
of the 8 most eaten fruits and
vegetables contained pesticides A way
we can help kids is by eliminating
pesticides on the food that eat. The food
that we eat has so many pesticides on it
that it can have such an effect on us.
Each year there is about one billion
pounds of pesticides are sprayed into
fields and orchards. In a study 14 out
of the 52 blueberries there was residue
found which can contribute to falling
IQs.
Organic foods and you!
Is it worth the cost?
Most people would say no until they
have learned about what they have
been eating. If you can not afford to
buy all organic then only buy the
stuff you eat the most like fruits!
It is more expensive but later on it
might help you.
Organic food markets have
grown from 3.5 billion in
1996 to $28 billion in 2010
