Best Practices for Mentioning LinkedIn Members
Part 1
1. Use the first word of their company name to tag popular names like “James Smith".
2. Type the name in slowly after the “@“ symbol. Sometimes you do not need to type the entire
name to find the person you are trying to tag.
3. When tagging a company try using their LinkedIn URL Handle if the Company name is not
working.
4. Don’t tag obsessively. LinkedIn frowns on users who tag too many people in a post or
comment.
5. I recommend limiting your tagging to <10 LinkedIn Members and/or companies.
6. You can backspace out the last name and/or former name when tagging.

(John Smith CPA, ABC, XYZ, PMP, CIM, Moo)
4. When tagging a LinkedIn Member ask yourself, will they appreciate I mentioned them. If not,
don’t.
