Uganda is a landlocked country located in East Central Africa bordering Tanzania, Rwanda, Congo, Sudan and Kenya. It has a population of over 33 million people and its capital and largest city is Kampala. The country has over 60 indigenous ethnic groups and was once ruled as protectorates of Britain and Belgium. It gained independence in 1962 and is now a republic with Yoweri Museveni as its president.
