What is Glee About? The High School Musical TV Show
1.
2. What is Glee About?
When a High School Spanish teacher, Will Schuester, becomes the director of
the school's failing Glee club, New Directions, he hopes to be able to
rejuvenate it. The club competes in the choir competition circuit. It's been
called "a High School Musical for adults", the series follows the club and its
mixture of oddball members as they try and restore it to its former glory. It is
a musical comedy in which the eager and ambitious students not only
compete to win the Nationals, but also have to deal with the tough and cruel
realities of their school, McKinley High. At the same time, Will is trying to
rejuvenate his failing love life whilst preventing the school's cheer leading
coach Sue Sylvester from sabotaging the choir.
Glee's musical numbers, underdog characters, and rousing soundtracks have
all helped make Glee a runaway pop-culture hit. It is created by Ryan Murphy
(Nip/Tuck) and is a Golden Globe-winning Fox musical comedy.
3. Where Did It All Begin?
• Glee began on September 9th 2009
• Created by- Ryan Murphy, Brad Fulchuk and Ian Brennan
• Ian Brennan conceived Glee based on his own experience as a member of
the Prospect High School show choir in Mount Prospect, Illinois. He
initially envisioned Glee as a film, rather than a television series, and
wrote the first draft in August 2005 with the aid of Screenwriting for
Dummies. He completed the script in 2005, but could not generate
interest in the project for several years. Mike Novick, a television producer
and a friend of Brennan's from Los Angeles, was a member of the same
gym as Ryan Murphy, and gave him a copy of Brennan's script. Murphy
had been in a show choir in college, and felt he could relate to the script.
Murphy and his Nip/Tuck colleague Brad Falchuk suggested that Glee be
produced as a television show. The script was entirely rewritten, and was
picked up by Fox within fifteen hours of being received.

planned, Fox hopes to have the show on the air by
