According to the data, Lithuanians consumed 32% more food than Estonians and 61% more food than Latvians per person, in real terms (bigger quantities or much better quality/more expensive type of food) in 2018. According to the data, Lithuanians consumed 63% more meat and 57% more fish than Estonians; and 89% more meat and 128% more fish than Latvians. At the same time, material deprivation data show that Estonians can afford meat or fish more often than Lithuanians. The share of people who were unable to afford a meal with meat, chicken, fish (or vegetarian equivalent) every second day, was 4% in Estonia, 12% in Latvia, and 15% in Lithuania in 2018 (Eurostat).
