In 2008 Julius Berger Nigeria PLC was
awarded to build the first phase of the New
Governor`s Lodge Complex in Uyo.
The governor’s residence is the main
building of this complex having a spatial
dimension on two floors of approximately
40m x 40m. This main building, with 4,500m²
GFA, contains the ground floor with public
rooms and the first floor with private rooms
of His Excellency. The entrance hall, with a
fountain and its skylight dome above, flanks
to the Banquet Hall in the ground floor.
Two bureaux in the first floor - one for the
Governor and the other one for the First
Lady are attainable with the panorama lift.
The contract also included the erection of
several auxiliary buildings like a gate house
with electrical gates, a clinic, a pool building
including a fitness room, a squash court and
a Finnish hot steam bath, as well as a pool
and a children’s pool.
The constructed power house supplies
beside the total buildings, the potable water-
and pool water treatment. A chiller plant in
addition to the main building adjusts the
desirable room temperature.
As infrastructural works were realized:
green areas including tree/shrub planting,
pavement and the boundary wall.
Security is assured via the surveillance
tower and the certain camera systems.
Furthermore a chapel, two buildings for the
governor´s assistants and another adjoining
building were part of the contract.
The construction works started in April 2008
and were completed within 18 months in
September 2009.
