1. ABOUT IHM RAIPUR
As Chhattisgarh State is one of the fastest-growing States, where the Hospitality Industry is
rising gradually and the requirement for skilled manpower is increasing so that, the industry
could deliver the best service. With this motive, the demand for local manpower has
amplified. Hence, from the Hotel Management Institute, the Government is given the
opportunity to enhance and develop the skills of the student which will help mankind and the
industry to grow.
Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology & Applied Nutrition, Raipur -
Chhattisgarh is a newly established Institute Awarded Affiliation from National Council of
Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT), Noida in collaboration with Indira
Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) in the Year 2020. State Institute of Hotel
Management Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition is the first state-owned Hotel
Management Institute built at Uparwara village in Naya Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
1.2 ESTABLISHMENT OF IHM- RAIPUR
❖ Declaration of the establishment of IHM, Raipur C.G. by the Hon’ble Finance Minister of
India in his Budget Speech.
❖ Sanction of SIHM, Raipur by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India on 29 Dec
2006.
❖ SIHM, Raipur Registered as a Society vide letter no. C.G.1418 dated 06 June 2006.
❖ Formation of Governing Body vide letter no. F-2/33/2006 dated 04 July 2006.
❖ On 03 July 2009, 4.23 Hectares of land is allotted by NRDA for SIHM, Campus.

The IHM Raipur is affiliated with National Council for Hotel Management & Catering
Technology (NCHMCT), Noida, and IGNOU.
2. About NCHMCT
National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (Society) was set up in the
year 1982 by Govt. of India as an autonomous body for coordinated growth and development
of hospitality management education in the country.
Initially, the Council was set up in the name of National Board of Studies in Food
Management, Catering & Nutrition under the administrative control of the Ministry of
Agriculture (Deptt. Of Food) and subsequently it was transferred to Ministry of Tourism,
Govt. of India in the year 1984 with renaming it as National Council for Hotel Management
& Catering Technology. The office of the Council is situated at A-34, Sector-62, Noida
(U.P.) in its own building whereas its registered office is at Pusa, New Delhi.
2.1 About IGNOU
The IGNOU, established through an Act of Parliament in 1985, provides higher education for
continual professional development through open and Distance Learning, having a large
network of regional and overseas Centers.

M.o.U between IGNOU and NCHMCT to Run Collaborative B.Sc. Programs in Hospitality
and Hotel Adminstration.
The hospitality students possessing Degree in Hospitality by, the National Council for Hotel
Management – NCHMCT has collaborate with Indira Gandhi National Open University
IGNOU by signing the MoU for its 3-year B.Sc. The collaboration between the two national
bodies began in 2002 and is for the benefit of the student community, especially for those
who wish to pursue higher education in India and abroad.
Through the collaborative arrangement, students pursue five theory subjects offered by
IGNOU and thirty-four subjects taught through full-time institute laboratory and classroom
learning in the various operational aspects of hospitality, to qualify for a 3-year B.Sc. Degree
which is issued by IGNOU. The IGNOU representatives are also involved during the Joint-
Entrance Examination JEE conducted by the National Council for Hotel Management on an
all India basis.
3. OUR AIM
The aim of the Institute is to provide the right environment and inputs to the aspiring hoteliers
who would be able to measure up to the exacting and ever rising standards of the Hospitality
Industry in India. The Institute seeks to impart the best knowledge and skills into the students
and to cater to the workforce requirement of the Hospitality Industry.
To disseminate the quality knowledge, appropriate attitude and perfect professional skills to
its students and groom them as per the need of the Hospitality Industry.
To train the youth of Chhattisgarh and other States in the field of Hospitality Industry and
provide them employment in Hotels, Restaurants-Bars, Institutional Catering, Industrial
catering etc. Hence, it will help in generation of direct, indirect employment opportunity and
self entrepreneurship to skilled manpower/human resource to the growing Hotel and Tourism
Industry of India.

concern, an appropriate training and knowledge is essential for fetching a Professional and
establishing a career in Hospitality Industry.
Hospitality Management focuses on ensuring customer safety and comfort in a hotel,
restaurant or entertainment facility. Hospitality Management centers on customer satisfaction
that would lead to his loyalty and repeated business. Students in Hospitality Management

7. FACILITIES
7.1 BTK (BASIC TRAINING KITCHEN)
The Basic Training Kitchen is to facilitate the students of 1st year B.Sc programme to make
known with the basics of food production. Here the students get their introduction to food
production with a reward of tasting their own creation. They get to sharpen their basic skills
and apply them to more advanced preparations.

7.2 QTK (QUANTITY TRAINING KITCHEN)
Quantity Food Kitchen is the largest kitchen of the Institute. The students of 2nd year B.Sc
programme acquire the knowledge and skills required to provide to the demand of regional
cuisines of India as a cooking practical. In QTK the modules are planned in a manner so that
the students could face the challenges of cooking for large groups and catering the wide
variety of people representing different culinary zones of India. This kitchen produces meals
for hundreds to thousand at a time. This kitchen deals with all the Indian regional dishes as
per curriculum of NCHMCT.
7.3 ATK (ADVANCE TRAINING KITCHEN)
For 3rd Year of B.Sc programme the trained students will get a chance to work free and
combined skills and know-how and beat National and International vulnerability. Advance
Kitchen is for teaching and training of International Cuisines to students such as French,
Oriental, Chinese, Thai, Italy, Germany, Spain, Greece, Mexican, Mediterranean etc. The
students are trained for right cooking technique, portion control, platter presentation,
garnishing and the menu compilation. The skill and knowledge are improved through the
practical classes.
7.4 BAKERY and CONFECTIONERY LAB
The Bakery & Confectionery Lab will be used for all the baking and confectionary
requirements as per the syllabus. Students will produce some of the most exquisite breads,
cakes, chocolates, pastries & desserts here. IHM will be benefiting students to acquire first
hand quality professional experience.
7.5 BASIC TRAINING RESTAURANT
Students of 1st year and diploma course are taught about the basics of food and beverage
service including how to service the guests, various napkin folds, setting up of the table etc.
7.6 ADVANCE TRAINING RESTAURANT
Students of 2nd year, 3rd year are given hands-on experience of Food and Beverage Service.
They also get a chance to deal with various situations through face to face encounters during
service practice.
7.7 STUDENTS DINING HALL
The food prepared by the 2nd year students in Quantity Food Kitchen are served to the
students as a lunch.
HOUSEKEEPING LAB
Housekeeping lab is well-equipped with modern cleaning and laundry equipments for the
best knowledge and skill development. Mock Guest Rooms: Institute has two furnished
guest rooms, educate and to demonstrate the students the room cleaning procedures and area
cleaning activities

FRONT OFFICE LAB
Front office refers to the front desk or reception area or the core operations department in any
institute or hotel. This would include the reception and front desk, as well as reservations,
sales and marketing, housekeeping and concierge. This is the place where guests go when
they arrive at the hotel. The students are trained in the act of handling a variety of situation,
role play, mock reservations and check out procedures.
COMPUTER LAB
Computer labs are equipped and are established to train and develop the technical know-how
among the students.

Eligibility Criteria
Pass in 10+2 system of Senior Secondary examination or its equivalent with English as one
of the subjects with minimum 50% of total marks.
Those appearing in 10+2 or equivalent examination can also appear in NCHMCT JEE Exam
on provisional basis. Provisional admission will stand cancelled if proof of having passed the
qualifying examination (10+2 or its equivalent) is not submitted at the time of counseling or
at the time of admission or latest date.
The offer of admission is subject to verification of original certificates/documents at the time
of counseling/admission. If any candidate is found ineligible at a later date even after
admission to an Institute, his/her admission will stand cancelled.
Upper age limit as on 01.07.2022. For Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates
upper age limit is relax able up to 3 years.
