MOBILE:
If you can’t come to us, we’ll come to you! SunGard can deliver self-contained mobile units equipped with power, air conditioning and PBXs to house key IT staff and recovery servers to your own site or a pre-determined recovery location. Your mobile unit could be with you in as little as 8 hours and kept for up to 13 weeks.
The Mobile Infrastructure Package provides short-term support when an incident has occurred which affects the normal operation of your business but which is not serious enough to require a full transfer to one of our fixed disaster recovery sites.
Typically this might mean where there has been a minor fire, limited water damage or loss of electricity through an incident such as fire, explosion or flooding. The service comprises:
•Portable Accommodation and Storage Units
•Mobile Air Conditioning Units
•Power Distribution Units
•Diesel Generators and UPS
•Portable Structured Cabling
•Compatibility
•We advise customers to ensure that the equipment supplied by SunGard is capable of connecting into their environment.
LONG TERM:
Survive a building loss without having to relocate
The immediate response to an incident that affects the workplace is to move your key staff to one of SunGard's workplace recovery centres to ensure that your business continues to operate. Our state-of-the-art business recovery centres are strategically located throughout Britain.
However, when your premises are going to be out of action for more than three months SunGard can deliver an alternative workplace. The units can be delivered within 24 hours – 5 days, depending on their size, for indefinite use. The modular buildings can house up to 300 office staff or a data centre and are designed for customers who either own land or can obtain permission to install temporary buildings on site. The facility can be fitted out with all the office technology and telephony you need, along with power and air conditioning.
From delivery of PCs and servers to a complete office environment
SunGard's long-term recovery products offer the UK's most advanced range of facilities and services to ensure that your business survives.
Servers, PCs and communications, including data and telephony, can be pre-configured to your requirements and delivered to these temporary offices for even faster recovery.
SunGard Mobile Infrastructure and long-term solutions

Many disasters can be mitigated through the shipping in of replacement infrastructure components, solutions that will enable you to remain in your building. SunGard has collectively called these Mobile Infrastructure Solutions. However, if you suffer a major disaster you need solutions for the Long-term. What are your options if you will not be able to get back into your production facility for months (if not years?)? Our experience in considering the options open to our customers following hundreds of disasters, is that you will know how long you will be unable to return home for, within 48 hours of the disaster occurring. If your building needs to be totally rebuilt then you will need a Long-term solution which you can build close to your home environment. SunGard therefore offers Long-term solutions.
The key point to emphasise is that if you visit these facilities you will realise these do NOT feel like Mobile / temporary buildings. Once you are inside, you would not realise you are in a building that has been erected in less than 20 days!
Any well compacted, properly drained car park or service yard will have a bearing capacity in the region of 200 kN./Sq.M. which is suitable for the assembly and operation of an LCER, using SunGard’s foundation system. Even if the area does not have a finished surface such as tarmacadam or concrete as long as it is well consolidated the SunGard system still works successfully. Areas where some form of preparation is almost certainly necessary are landscaped areas and grass sites. If the customer intends to retain the building for longer than 2 years, or the site is located in an area where the General Development Order does not apply e.g. in a Conservation area, customers will need to obtain planning permission for the building. While SunGard will give every assistance in doing this, the customer would need to formally submit the application to the planning authorities. The construction of the mobile building is such that the Construction Design Management regulations are applicable. These necessitate submission of a form F10 to the local authorities. SunGard would handle this process.
The foundations comprise adjustable steel stands which are supported on Concrete slabs (when placed on Tarmacadam) The units are flat packed which has 3 key advantages over a “volumetric” solution (one where the walls are already in place). You can place 4 units on a single trailer (reducing transport issues). The units can be moved and erected even on windy days (something that volumetric units cannot) The units can be installed in any order, thus increasing flexibility (you do not have to wait for a particular unit with the door/window/corner you require to arrive on site; a problem if the vehicle it was on has been held up for any reason. Note the roof being lifted into position
The use of externally connected a/c units increases the amount of space available internally, reduces plant noise and increases the speed of construction. Installing wall units after the floor / roof is in place increases flexibility, allowing the customer to determine where doors / windows need to be to suit the site.
The use of a full access raised floor also increases flexibility, allowing customers to configure the space to meet their needs, whether it be workplace or CER. We use a modular, pre-terminated structured cabling solution, certified to Cat 6.
Erection time depends on the distance from Milton Keynes and the size of the unit being erected.
This solution is regularly invoked and has saved customers from invoking their full recovery plan on numerous occasions. The solutions are delivered from our 25,000 sq ft warehouse in Milton Keynes.
Volumetric units have the walls already in place (unlike our flat packed Long-term units) and therefore only 1 unit can be transported on each trailer. For a small solution such as this, this makes for a faster construction time.
We have also developed bespoke solutions for customers based on our core infrastructure stock and supplemented with additional bespoke units. In HBOS case, we built an additional module with armoured secure area complete to the bank branch security specification. The incident control solution for the H & S executive has been invoked to support their involvement in rail disasters and chemical fires and gas explosions.
